Messi’s family celebrates winning the World Cup.
The three sons Thiago, Mateo and Ciro were present on the field with excitement right before their father lifted the championship trophy.
Messi’s wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, also celebrated with her husband and captured precious family moments. Antonella is Messi’s partner since childhood, always by the Argentine star’s side in all of her husband’s victories.
After Messi and the Argentinian players received the championship trophy, Antonela Roccuzzo stayed behind to hold and kiss the trophy her husband won.
Messi and his wife took a photo with the championship trophy.
In one photo, the couple smiles at the camera. Antonella held the championship trophy and Messi wrapped his arms around his wife.
This victory of the Argentina team owes a lot to star Lionel Messi, quelling debates about whether Messi is the greatest player in history today or not.
Messi’s wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, is always present to watch the matches and celebrate with her husband.
The victory also had important meaning for Messi’s family. Previously, Messi received a letter of encouragement from his 10-year-old son Thiago.
Thiago wrote: “I was born in Argentina, the land of Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi. I’ll never forget the finals where we lost. I have cried so much over the years. But the pain at the Maracana is over, Argentina won the Copa America championship after defeating Brazil. Now, we are hungry for victory again. The Argentinian team wants to become world champions. We can see Maradona from heaven. He always cheers Messi”.
The words that Messi’s eldest son wrote were the lyrics of the song “Muchachos” – a song composed by an Argentinian fan, Fernando Romero, to praise football icons in his homeland such as star Lionel Messi and legend Diego Maradona.
Besides his success in his football career, Messi is known as a family man with normal hobbies, such as playing football with his son in the backyard and grilling BBQ with coffee at home.
Messi won a meaningful championship trophy, not only for the Argentina team, but also for his family.
All three of Messi’s sons study at private schools in Paris, France, where the Argentine star is playing.
The couple welcomed their first son, Thiago, in 2012. Their two children, Mateo and Ciro, were born in 2015 and 2018, respectively. Messi once said that his children have changed the way he sees life.
“Even though I don’t have much time at home with my children. I always try to spend every moment with my children, watching TV or playing with them,” Messi said.
Messi’s wife, Antonella, is the cousin of the Argentine star’s childhood friend. The two met when Messi was only 5 years old. Antonella is 1 year younger than Messi.
The couple officially married 5 years ago in their hometown, about 320km from Buenos Aires.
