The Blues kept their powder dry for much of the market as Stamford Bridge chiefs strived to stay vigilant to FFP. Chelsea did not have to sell to strengthen Pochettino’s squad in the mid-season sales. But they have had a raft of big-spending spells with Todd Boehly’s ownership.
Few teams can rival the spending power Chelsea have displayed since Boehly’s consortium purchased the west London club. But Pochettino remained in the market for reinforcements this winter, as the Argentine planned their potential route back up the Premier League table.
