All 10 Upcoming MCU Movies & Shows Harry Styles’ Starfox Could Return In

Harry Styles has been teased to be returning as Eros, a.k.a. Starfox, after his debut in Phase 4’s Eternals, and there are several upcoming or potential MCU projects that could feasibly include the mysterious Eternal. Chloé Zhao’s Marvel Studios debut introduced ten new superheroes to the MCU in a history-spanning adventure that explored the MCU’s past and delved deeper into the franchise’s cosmic mythology. This was a massive undertaking that caused division among MCU viewers, with many feeling that the introduction of the Eternals needed more time than simply one feature film. However, Eternals did set up some major storylines for the MCU’s future.

As well as introducing the ten members of the main Eternals team, sent to Earth by the Celestial Arishem to ensure the human population grew enough to allow the Celestial Tiamut to be born, Phase 4’s Eternals mid-credits scene also debuted two other mysterious characters. Alongside Patton Oswalt’s Pip the Troll, Harry Styles debuted as Eros, aka Starfox, another Eternal introduced as the brother of the Mad Titan Thanos. Eros’ appearance in Eternals posed several questions for future MCU projects to answer. Harry Styles will be returning to the MCU, and there are several upcoming and possible projects that could feature Eros, though nothing has yet been confirmed by Marvel Studios.

Where Are The Infinity Stones In The MCU Now?

10. Guardians Of The Galaxy 4

James Gunn’s journey with Marvel Studios ended with 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but even though Gunn and several members of the original team won’t be returning, a new Guardians of the Galaxy team was established. Now led by Rocket Raccoon and including the likes of Groot, Adam Warlock, Blurp, Kraglin, Cosmo, and Phyla, the new Guardians team could appear in Guardians of the Galaxy 4, though this project hasn’t been announced to be in development yet. The cosmic nature of these projects means Eros’ appearance would make sense, and this could help to create more connections between the Guardians and the wider MCU.

9. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

MCU Phase 6’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is expected to bring a new team of Avengers together in a battle against Kang the Conqueror and his many variants. While this will likely be the focus of the upcoming crossover project, it’s possible that members of the Eternals could appear alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. While Eternals ended with Sersi, Phastos, and Kingo being taken captive by Arishem, it’s possible the other remaining Eternals return to Earth with Eros and Pip in search of their lost family members. Since Eros is the brother of Thanos, it would be great for him to see the impact of his brother’s actions on the Earth.

8. Avengers: Secret Wars

After The Kang Dynasty, the MCU’s Phase 6 and the Multiverse Saga will be brought to a close with 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. The crossover film is expected to feature appearances from many characters, both those returning from the MCU’s past and those from other non-MCU Marvel movie franchises. The Eternals would be a strong addition to Secret Wars’ roster, particularly since the fate of the multiverse may be hanging in the balance, as the cosmic heroes and their new traveling companions, Pip and Eros, could have some in-depth knowledge of the multiverse. Many characters are rumored to appear in Secret Wars, and Eros may be one of them.

7. The Marvels

Scheduled for release on November 10, 2023, The Marvels will bring Captain Marvel, Photon, and Ms. Marvel together in a space-faring adventure, which may bring them into contact with the Eternals aboard the Domo. Though it may be unlikely that the Eternals and Eros will appear in The Marvels, particularly since the upcoming film is exploring the family dynamic between the new MCU trio, the fact that the majority of The Marvels is taking place in space suggests the heroes could meet up with other cosmic heroes. Marvel Studios needs to make connections between Eternals’ characters and the most established MCU heroes, and this would be a great start.

6. Deadpool 3

Ryan Reynolds’ MCU debut as Wade Wilson is taking place in 2024’s Deadpool 3, marking the first time characters from another Marvel franchise will enter the MCU on a permanent basis. Deadpool 3 is expected to feature cameos from several characters from 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise, so the project may already be oversaturated with heroes, making an appearance from Eros unlikely. However, since Eternals received a mixed response, it’s highly likely that Deadpool will crack some of his signature jokes at the Phase 4 film’s expense, which may constitute an appearance from the Eternals themselves and their new, mysterious friends.

5. The Legendary Star-Lord

While the new Guardians of the Galaxy team haven’t been confirmed to be returning, Vol. 3 did reveal that Chris Pratt will return in the MCU’s future, now assuming the new title of “Legendary Star-Lord.” This has led many to suspect that a solo project may be produced putting Pratt’s Peter Quill front-and-center, and though this may take place primarily on Earth – given his return there at the end of Vol. 3 – it’s possible that Star-Lord may reach out to some of his more cosmic friends. Including the Eternals and Eros in a Legendary Star-Lord project would be a great way to build relationships between these otherwise separated heroes.

4. Nova

A series focusing on Marvel Comics’ Richard Rider, a.k.a. Nova, was confirmed in 2022, and though not much has been heard about the project since, it’s possible that Nova could include several other cosmic MCU characters. The project is expected to lead on from the Nova Empire’s appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy and its apparent destruction prior to Avengers: Infinity War, focusing on the birth of a new interstellar hero in the MCU. This could establish the Eternals as a cosmic MCU team rather than tying them so closely to Earth, and the Nova Empire’s destruction at the hands of Thanos would be great to explore through Eros’ eyes.

3. Thor 5

Thor: Love and Thunder ended with confirmation that Chris Hemsworth will be returning as the MCU’s God of Thunder, though the mixed reception to Love and Thunder has made these plans uncertain. Marvel Studios’ Thor 5 has been rumored, and since Thor’s more recent projects (Ragnarok and Love and Thunder) dealt with more space-focused adventures, it’s possible that Thor 5 could feature the Eternals and Eros. Much like the Eternals, Thor is both a cosmic and an Earth-based hero, which establishes a clear connection between them, and the appearance of the Eternals in Thor 5 could help in creating the tonal shift that many feel the MCU’s Thor franchise needs.

2. Starfox Solo Project

The confirmation that Harry Styles’ Eros is the brother of the MCU’s Thanos has led to some confusion, particularly after the Eternals’ origins were changed from being biological beings in Marvel Comics to being synthetic robot-like beings in the MCU. This relationship certainly needs to be explained further, and the best chance for this to happen may be in a solo project for Eros and Thanos. While nothing along these lines has yet been announced by Marvel Studios, there have been calls for Thanos’ backstory to be explored in the MCU, and a series investigating his family would be the prime opportunity for Eros to make his return.

1. Eternals 2

The most likely place for Eros to return to the MCU would be in a sequel to Eternals. After the response to Eternals, the fate of Eternals 2 has been thrown into uncertainty, though the potential film has been rumored and teased by various cast members. With the deaths of Ajak, Gilgamesh, and Ikaris in Eternals, and Sprite being transformed into a human, there are fewer characters for a sequel to focus on, so Eternals 2 may have more time to actually develop a strong storyline. The cliffhanger ending of Eternals also set up a sequel perfectly and teased Eros’ larger role in the potential future MCU project.
