Vegeta not only overcame Goku, but even had many times when he shined and “carried” the team when Goku was in trouble.
Throughout the Dragon Ball story journey, it is not difficult to realize that Goku and Vegeta are the two strongest characters in the story. There have been many comparisons about these two Saiyans, but most people think that Goku is stronger, but not necessarily superior, to Vegeta. On the contrary, there are times when Vegeta shows that he is the superior one, not Goku.
If counted correctly, Vegeta is about 7 times more powerful than Goku. There are moments that are really not too important, but enough to prove that Vegeta can completely surpass Goku if our main character is not careful. Let’s review those moments below
1. The first time as kids
Although Goku and Vegeta never encountered each other when they were children, they were both very strong at that time. When he was young, Goku defeated fighting robots, dragon ball hunters and the red ribbon army, but who is Vegeta’s opponent? Strong people are all over the universe, and they are much stronger than humans. At this point, Vegeta is clearly in the upper hand with Goku.
2. First encounter
When they first met, Vegeta had a strength index of 18 thousand, and Goku had a little more than 8 thousand. However, Goku showed that he had an advantage thanks to the use of his newly learned technique Kaioken.
Although Goku dominated the first half of the match, when Vegeta revealed his full power and became a gorilla, his power increased more than 10 times, something Kaioken could not do. Obviously Vegeta is stronger than Goku at this time. If he doesn’t have his tail cut off, Vegeta will still be far from losing.
3. When Vegeta became a Super Saiyan
This is one of the moments that Vegeta fans love the most, when he becomes a Super Saiyan. At this time, Goku is having a heart attack and has almost no strength left when fighting. Fortunately, Vegeta arrived in time and rescued Goku at that time. Obviously, Vegeta at that time shined and proved who was stronger here. Piccolo even had to admit that Vegeta had surpassed Goku in terms of strength.
4. When Vegeta becomes a Level 2 Super Saiyan
Vegeta and Trunks trained continuously in the time room and that helped them reach Super Saiyan 2 level. Soon after, Vegeta came to challenge Cell in his incomplete form. At first, Cell quite despised Vegeta, but when he saw him reach Super Saiyan 2, Cell immediately felt afraid – something Goku could not do at that time.
5. Vegeta encounters Beerus
As soon as he encountered Beerus, Vegeta immediately knew that he could not win and accepted that he would lose and knelt down to accept his fate. Surprisingly, Bulma then slapped Beerus for ruining her party. Beerus slapped Bulma back, causing Vegeta to become really angry and attack Beerus. But what does that have to do with being stronger than Goku?
Remember that at this point, Vegeta has only used level 2 Super Saiyan, but he has launched a series of attacks and has hit Beerus once, something that level 3 Goku has not done.
6. Vegeta after training with Whis
Vegeta secretly trained with Whis for a while before Goku. It wasn’t until later that Goku learned this through Bulma. After that, he also went to practice with Vegeta and Whis and he judged that Vegeta had surpassed him.
7. The battle with Black and Zamasu
Goku and Vegeta had an extremely intense battle with Black and Zamasu but did not gain too much of an advantage. After that, they must return to the past to recover and find a plan to defeat Black. While Goku took the time to learn the Ma Wind Ba attack, Vegeta entered the time room to continue practicing. Later, he proved that he was much stronger when he completely defeated Black, thereby avenging his son Trunks.
