Cardi B Reveals Why She Still Hasn’t Collaborated with Lil’ Kim AKA Nicki Minaj’s rival

The ‘WAP’ rapper said how much she loves Lil’ Kim, but wants to make sure their tune together will be the “greatest song”.

Cardi B is revealing why a potential future team-up with pal Lil’ Kim hasn’t happened yet.

In an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that aired Monday, the rapper was asked by a virtual fan if her next album would finally feature the long-awaited collaboration between the two of them.

“I really do want one,” responded Cardi, 30. “I’m going through my songs right now.”

She went on to note that the two of them are good friends, but that only leaves fans with more questions. “Cuz everybody like — ‘If you guys love each other so much why you guys don’t have a collab,’” she joked, in a playful, mimicking voice.

Turns out, that excitement puts on the pressure for Cardi, and is exactly why a track hasn’t happened yet. “The thing is that I want us to have such a great, undeniable song because I know people are going to judge it, be so harsh on us,” Cardi said, “So, it’s like, I wanna make sure that it’s going to be the greatest song!”

“But I would love, love love love to do a song with Lil Kim’. I love her,” added Cardi of Kim, 49. “She’s the sweetest thing ever. And she’s so cute!”

Cardi, who rocked a sexy turquoise gown and a full head of curls for WWHL, is set to perform her new song “Bongos” with Megan Thee Stallion, 28, on Tuesday at the MTV Video Music Awards. The performance — which will air live from Prudential Center in New Jersey — is the second time Cardi and Megan have hit the VMA stage, after performing their hit “WAP” together in 2021.

That year, the pair received five nominations for the over-the-top single, including song of the summer, song of the year, best collaboration and best hip hop as well as the highly coveted video of the year.

Elsewhere in Cardi’s sit-down with Andy Cohen, after sharing that her favorite pop diva tracks of all time go from “Britney to Lady Gaga to Madonna,” she expanded more on her sensitivity to doing collaborations.

“I just gotta make the right song for them because you know what, I wouldn’t want to send someone that I would love to collab with — I think things like too much — a song and then they be like, eh this is not my vibe, and then my feelings will get hurt.”

“I don’t want to be like, ‘I love you so much, I don’t want to hate you!’ ”

Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen airs Sundays – Thursday nights on Bravo.
