Michail Antonio says 22-year-old Chelsea player has done something he’s never seen before

West Ham’s Michail Antonio claims Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk shocked him with his actions after the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea booked their spot in the Carabao Cup semi-finals this week by beating Newcastle United on penalties at Stamford Bridge.

Blues attacker Mykhailo Mudryk, who came on as a substitute on Tuesday night, scored an equalising goal to send the contest to penalties. He then calmly slotted in his spot-kick during the shootout success.

Remarkably, Mudryk posted a message on his Instagram story after Chelsea’s win over Newcastle and tagged opposition player Kieran Trippier. It was Trippier’s mistake in the box that opened the door for Mudryk’s equalising goal, so the Chelsea man reached out to him on social media.

Mudryk said: “Kieran, just wanna say to you, stay strong… I think you are a strong footballer no matter what.”

Premier League striker stunned

West Ham frontman Michail Antonio was amazed to see Mudryk reach out to Trippier.

Meanwhile, Newcastle striker Callum Wilson, who score in the game, applauded the Chelsea youngster.

Speaking on The Players Channel podcast, Antonio said: “Trippier made the mistake for the goal and he has put out a tweet, at ing him and saying ‘it is football, it happens to everybody but it’s a part of the game’, keep you head up. Have you spoken to Tripps about it? That’s big! I don’t think that has ever happened in football. That is something fresh and new.

Wilson responded: “Not from the opposition either. You might get it from an international teammate or a teammate or a friend but from the opposition and the person who capitalised on it, it’s respect really. I guess it’s fair play to him. That was a nice touch, he didn’t have to do it, they have won the game. It’s fantastic to see.”

Mykhailo Mudryk message to Kieran Trippier

It was a pretty big surprise from Mudryk to send a public message Trippier, but it seemed like it came from a sincere place.

It’s easy to see why Mudryk is a player that Chelsea supporters are fully behind and desperate to see do well.

The Ukrainian winger now has three goals and two assists in 17 Blues appearances across all competitions this season.

If he wants to become a nailed-on starter and key player at Stamford Bridge, our guess is that he’ll have improve his end product.
