Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson were closest in One Direction, and that may have been helped by a chance meeting early on.

Despite having only been formed just over a decade ago, One Direction is one of the biggest boy bands ever to exist. They boys were popular because they were able to connect with their fans, each member could bring something different to the table, and it also helped that their music was incredibly catchy.

Many people know that One Direction was put together on The X Factor, with many believing that it was only once the boys had been put in that group together that they had met for the first time. However, two of the band’s members, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, had actually met prior to the band being put together.

Where Did Louis Tomlinson And Harry Styles Meet?

Regular viewers of The X Factor might remember that the audition stages of the show in particular were relatively chaotic. There were always hopeful contestants shown being moved around from place to place, often surrounded by their family and friends, until they were eventually taken in to audition.

In fact, there were even some circumstances where a handful of hopefuls would be seen sitting together talking about the auditions before they went in there, so there was always the possibility that anyone from One Direction could have bumped into each other before their lives changed forever.

This was certainly true for two of the band’s members, in that Harry and Louis had met each other before they went in for their two separate auditions to then being put together in One Direction.

Most people were aware that the boys likely met each other backstage at some point throughout the early stages of The X Factor, and whilst this might be true, they actually met here in a very unlikely place that wasn’t just whilst they were waiting to go on stage to find out their fate.

Harry and Louis actually met each other while they were both separately taking a well-timed backroom break in the toilets. Whilst no one is 100% sure exactly where and when the two met, what the pair might not have been prepared for is the journey they were both about to go on together.

Fans of the pair, particularly Harry, will know that Harry has lots of meaningful tattoos on his body. Two of these tattoos are ‘oops’ and ‘hi’ and it is believed that these tattoos stem from that fateful meeting in the bathroom between Harry and Louis, as those were the first words the two ever said to each other.

This was further confirmed by a Tweet Harry made in 2011, where he posted a quote (presumably said by either him or Louis) about standing at the urinals and one of them accidentally getting the other’s pee splashed on them.

Whilst this probably isn’t the nicest of meetings for anyone to have, at least in this case it resulted in a friendship between two young boys with a dream they both shared that they happened to embark on together.

Did Louis And Harry Stop Being Friends?

One thing that many One Direction fans liked about the band was the close friendship that the boys seemed to have with one another.

One of the most notable friendships during this time was the one between Harry and Louis, who were often seen laughing together about something or other and generally just seemed like they got along quite well.

However, since the band was only together for about five years and has been on ‘hiatus’ for a lot longer than that time, many people question whether that friendship is still there.

Naturally, the pair lead busy lives, with Harry having just come to the end of his Love On Tour tour, which makes finding time to see friends particularly hard. Whether this is to blame for their lack of spending time together, or whether it’s something else, is unknown, but their friendship isn’t what it used to be.

In 2019, Louis only showed support for Liam when he had new music out, as opposed to showing the same support to Niall and Harry, who also had new music out at that time. This suggests that all wasn’t as it seemed, despite Louis insisting that he still has a lot of love for them.

However, Harry and the rest of the boys (apart from Zayn) were backstage at The X Factor when Louis performed ‘Just Hold On’, days after his mum passed away. The boys were also all in talks before their 10-year anniversary in 2020.

So whilst it seems that the two definitely aren’t as close as they once used to be, there clearly isn’t any bad blood between them that might cause worry among fans.

The Harry And Louis ‘Relationship’ Rumors Ruined Their Friendship

According to Louis, one of the main issues behind their struggling relationship was fans’ constant rumors that he and Harry were in a secret relationship.

The rumors apparently caused the pair to become more withdrawn from one another because fans were constantly watching their every move for clues that they were together. But whether this or other factors are to blame for their lack of closeness nowadays is unknown.
