Kylian Mbappe leads a long list of superstars that could be on Manchester United’s radar when their contracts run out in 2024.
The Frenchman could leave Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. This will lose PSG a lot of money but will be massively beneficial to Mbappe on a financial front.
The 24-year-old is about to enter his prime footballing years so his next destination will be interesting. He leads a long list of out-of-contract stars who United may look to pounce on next summer in a bid to save money for other incomings, as the MEN Sport explores.
Kylian Mbappe.
The Hollywood signing has often backfired in recent years for United but signing one of the best players in the world would be a real statement of intent. It would certainly silence those who were tempted to question the club’s ability to pull top talent.
Mbappe is clearly disinterested in Paris but the Frenchman has played hardball with the French champions. He is seeing out his contract and will have the pick of Europe’s best clubs next summer.
Nico Williams
The La Liga youngster has been impressing at Bilbao for a number of years.
At 21, Williams is very much in the early phase of his career and he looks set to move on to bigger and better things. He would be in the mould of a United signing but their record at developing younger talents has left a lot to be desired in recent times.
Adrien Rabiot
Last summer Rabiot nearly moved to Old Trafford. Negotiations with his agent, his mother, proved tough and the Frenchman was also happy to stay at Juventus despite reports of discontent.
The 28-year-old can play in multiple positions. Such versatility would be welcomed by Erik ten Hag because his squad is lacking on the depth front.
Piotr Zielinski
Zielinski is a very tidy footballer in an open style of play. He is comfortable with the ball at his feet and is always looking to link up with teammates and play progressive passes forward.
United’s team severely lacks forward-thinking players and the 29-year-old could offer something on this front. However, his age may be off-putting for the transfer committee.
Mario Hermoso
Hermoso is a key cog in Diego Simeone’s defence. He is mainly a central defender but has also been utilised as a left-back in some matches.
At 28, Hermoso has a lot of experience and is comfortable with the ball at his feet. He knows the ‘dark arts’ of shutting out an opponent and could add some grit to the United backline.
