Real Madrid have been handed major boost on Christmas today as a report from MARCA claims that Eduardo Camavinga will be back immediately after the break and will play against Mallorca on 3rd January.
The Frenchman picked up an injury while on international duty with France in mid-November. While initially considered a knock, more tests confirmed that the injury was serious, and the player would be out until early February.
His recovery has gone very well, as was confirmed by Carlo Ancelotti himself. The player has already returned to training on the pitch, and will join team training this break to face off against Mallorca.
Madrid have already been handed a blessing with Aurelien Tchouameni’s quick recovery, who was initially predicted to be sidelined until mid-January himself.
Camavinga’s return is a huge blessing for Madrid, who have been dealing with several injuries this season, most recently an ACL to David Alaba, which has ruled him out for the rest of the season, and possibly the 2024 European Championship.
And while Camavinga cannot play as a centre-back, he can cover Tchouameni’s defensive midfield position with ease if his compatriot is asked to play in defence.
Moreover, with Ferland Mendy suffering constant injuries, Ancelotti would be delighted to have the 21-year-old cover as a left-back when push comes to shove.
Either way, at a time when Madrid are crying out loud for squad depth and quantity, anyone returning from an injury is a welcome return. Next up will be Vinicius Jr, who should make his return in time for the Spanish Super Cup in Riyadh.
