Cristiano Ronaldo travelled home to Madeira to celebrate both New Year’s Eve and his mother’s birthday, with the superstar pulling out all the stops for his present to her
Cristiano Ronaldo left him mum Maria Dolores in tears of joy after buying her a Porsche for her birthday.
Ronaldo finished 2023 as the world’s top scorer after banging in 54 goals for Al-Nassr, though he failed to win a trophy with the Saudi Pro League side. He jetted out from the Middle East state to his home island of Madeira on New Year’s Eve.
As well as celebrating the arrival of a new year, he was also there to enjoy his mother’s 69th birthday. His present left her moved to tears, with the Portuguese superstar making a grand gesture to help her celebrate her special day.
Ronaldo splashed out to buy Dolores a new Porsche Cayenne car, with his son Cristiano Jr presenting her with the vehicle. The attacker’s sister Katia Aveiro shared several images and videos on social media as Dolores was presented with her gift.
As a caption, she wrote: “If she is happy, it is because her son remembers her and not because of the value of the gift. Honour your father and your mother and your days on earth will be long.”
Ronaldo has a lengthy Christmas break, with the Saudi Pro League not returning until 15 February. Before that, he will likely feature in the blockbuster friendly against Inter Miami and the AFC Champions League clash against Al-Feiha.

He has enjoyed a stunning year in front of goal since joining Al-Nassr after last winter’s World Cup. The 39-year-old rounded off 2023 by scoring the final goal in a 4-1 hammering of Al-Taawoun on Saturday.
After a period of rest, Ronaldo is keen to pick up where he left off and enjoy another successful season. After completing 2023 with a goalscoring performance, the attacker insisted he was happy with life at Al-Nassr.
“Very happy, was a good year for me, collective and individual too. I scored so many goals. I helped the team a lot at Al-Nassr and also with the national team so I’m really proud,” he told SSC Sports.
