Star Wars Actor Ends Tom Cruise Debate, Becomes Green Lantern In DCU Art

Green Lantern may not have fared as well on the big screen, but it is no secret that it is a character that comic book fans deeply love and admire. Although its screen debut did as well as a solar-powered flashlight in the dark, comic enthusiasts nonetheless want to give the character another chance.

While they wait desperately for the character’s return, many have taken to art to present their own versions of the character starring some favorite fan casts. While in recent years, there have been numerous rumors and fanarts of Tom Cruise potentially portraying Hal Jordan, another DCU fanart starring Star Wars actor Alden Ehrenreich seems to have quenched all debates about Cruise starring as Green Lantern.

Although Nathan Fillion has already secured the role of Green Lantern as Guy Gardner in Gunn’s DCverse (via Vanity Fair), the role of Hal Jordan in a possible live-action feature remains vacant. While certain DC fans had been campaigning for Top Gun star Tom Cruise, creating impressive fan art, Star Wars actor Alden Ehrenreich seems to have shut all rumors of Cruise as Hal Jordan.

A recent spectacular fan art by a fan @jaxsonderr (via Instagram) featured the Star Wars star as Hal Jordan. In a flashy new green suit that looks way better than Ryan Reynold‘s, Ehrenreich looks way closer to the comic-book version of the superhero. Looking at the fan art, it is no wonder that fans seem to have changed their preferences from Cruise to Ehrenreich for he sure is a perfect choice to be the next Hal Jordan.

Why Alden Ehrenreich Is Better Than Ryan Reynolds Or Tom Cruise As Green Lantern? Ryan Reynold’s Green Lantern

While Tom Cruise can surely portray an older version of Hal Jordan it doesn’t seem like many fans would like to have a Green Lantern reboot only to see Jordan as an older version of the character. And since it is unlikely that Ryan Reynolds would be willing to return, Alden Ehrenreich as Green Lantern seems to be the better choice.

Ehrenreich might be 34 but his potential portrayal of the character would allow for a fresh interpretation with youthful relevance, unlike Cruise or Reynolds. Not only would he appeal to the younger audience, but his portrayal would also be able to relate to the older audiences while still maintaining the core essence of the character.

Having showcased his acting range in diverse roles, the Star Wars actor can take on a more serious and authentic portrayal, moving away from the almost comical portrayal of Reynolds in the 2011 movie. Thus, his portrayal can help bring a blend of sincerity, youthful energy as well as a fresh perspective of Green Lantern, making him a far better choice than Reynolds or Cruise.

Meanwhile, the original 2011 movie starring Reynolds can be streamed on Max.
