The Christmas choreography of the 2024 remake of Mean Girls was inspired by BLACKPINK itself.
In 2024, BLACKPINK will enter the second year without a comeback, starting from their second studio album Born Pink (August 2022). The global girl group dedicates 2023 to completing the World Tour of the same name. At the end of the epic tour, the group faced major upheavals, confirming their re-signing with YG but not maintaining the members’ exclusive individual contracts.
Both Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa are focusing on their own directions, so their return is more difficult to determine than ever. However, even though they have not returned to promoting, BLACKPINK’s influence is still at the top.

Recently, BLINKs were sobbing when BLACKPINK inspired the Christmas choreography in the 2024 version of the movie Mean Girls. Specifically, the movie’s choreographer – Kyle Hanagami confirmed: “I feel like this generation grew up watching BLACKPINK, so when choreographing the Christmas dance, I said let’s put a little inspiration from BLACKPINK in it.”

Mean Girls is one of the American pop culture icons of the early 2000s. Among the classics, the Mean Girls quartet created fashion and lifestyle trends and became one of the most familiar movies. Every generation watches. Jennie is one of the Korean fashion icons whose style is influenced by this movie. During the In The Area tour, BLACKPINK once covered the song Jingle Bell Rock, with the choreography inspired by Mean Girls (2004).
As a “loop” of inheritance and development, Mean Girls 2024 is inspired by BLACKPINK. Recently, the movie had an early screening on January 9, receiving many compliments for the film’s humor, both satisfying old fans and recruiting new fans to the “meaningful girls” club.
Not only stopping at the charm and “slay” of the old Mean Girls quartet , the 2024 version of the Christmas choreography is more complex and bold with the characteristics of Kpop girlgroups. Some looks and gestures remind of BLACKPINK and the legendary Coachella stage.
BLACKPINK’s brilliant career goes beyond the borders of Korea. In 2022, the 4 girls were also honored by Time magazine as “Entertainment Icons of the Year”. As expected of being the number 1 girl group globally, the 4 girls cover music, fashion and most recently, movies. BLINKs are extremely proud that BLACKPINK became one of the inspirations for the remake of “Y2K icon” Mean Girls.
The last time BLACKPINK transformed into beautiful “Santa Clauses” was at Born Pink Amsterdam, Christmas 2022.
