Patrick Mahomes was pelted with snowballs by furious Bills fans after inspiring the Kansas City Chiefs to another playoff victory over Buffalo on Sunday night.
In another classic encounter between the two quarterbacks, Mahomes got the better of great rival Josh Allen for a third straight time in the postseason as the Chiefs held on for a 27-24 win over the Bills.
Tyler Bass’ late field-goal miss to tie the game with under two minutes to play – reminiscent of Scott Norwood’s infamous ‘wide right’ miss in Super Bowl XXV – cost Buffalo dearly as they crashed out of the playoffs at the Divisional Round.
It was a gut-wrenching defeat for the hosts at Highmark, where freezing temperatures had left the stadium covered in snow before fans cleared it away ahead of the game for a wage of $20 per hour.
And following their latest postseason loss to Kansas City, Buffalo fans let their frustrations boil over when Mahomes ran over to the crowd after the game.

One clip on social media shows Mahomes taking a snowball straight to the head after the win
As he appeared to head over to sign some autographs for Chiefs fans in the crowd, footage circulating on social media shows the quarterback being pelted with snowballs by home supporters from above before running for cover.
Mahomes was not the only away player to be targeted with snowballs, nevertheless, with a Bills fan appearing to throw one at wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling as he attempted to catch a touchdown pass.
The weird sequence occurred in the second quarter on a crucial third down, with Valdes-Scantling trying to reel in a pass from Mahomes.
The pass feel incomplete, with the snowball connecting with Cam Lewis instead, who was guarding Valdes-Scantling on the play.
Linebacker Drue Tranquill wrote on X after Sunday’s game that he almost threw a snowball of his own at a fan who chucked one his way, only for it to break in his hand before he could do so.
‘I caught the snowball,’ Tranquill said. ‘If it didn’t break in my hand, it was getting launched right back at him.
‘We’d beat them in a snowball fight too. Truth is, my four year old throws a meaner snowball than #BillsMafia’.

The Chiefs are now set to face the Baltimore Ravens in this weekend’s Conference Championships, where they will battle it out for a second straight Super Bowl appearance.
After barely escaping the Bills, Mahomes admitted that the Ravens have ‘no weakness’ and will require their best effort.
‘We know we’re gonna have a heck of a challenge next week,’ he said. ‘But our guys are gonna get ready to go out there and show what we can do.
‘There’s no weakness there, it’s going to take our best effort. Defense, offense, special teams, they do it all. It’s always a great challenge and that stadium’s going to be rocking, so we’re excited for the challenge.’
