Chelsea defender Axel Disasi scored in his side’s 6-1 win against Middlesbrough last night and has now praised Raheem Sterling for the role he played in his goal.
Axel Disasi netted in the 36th minute to put Chelsea 3-0 up in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie with Middlesbrough.
It was Raheem Sterling who provided the assist for Disasi’s strike, and the Frenchman told beIN SPORTS after the game that his team-mate’s cross was a great one.
The Blues have now booked their ticket to Wembley and will play either Liverpool or west London rivals Fulham.
The former are currently winning their semi-final tie after beating the latter 2-1 at Anfield earlier this month.
Axel Disasi praises Raheem Sterling for role in Chelsea goal
Disasi was quick to give credit to Sterling for the part he played in his strike against Michael Carrick’s side.
On his goal, the centre-back said: “The coach said that I have to feel free on my side, so that’s it. When I recovered the ball, I continued my run and Razza made a very great cross and I just put my foot and it’s a good goal I think. So I’m happy.”

Mauricio Pochettino does not have to think about the Carabao Cup final yet, but when the Argentine does, he obviously has to consider starting Sterling.
The 29-year-old, who Chelsea signed from Manchester City for £50m (BBC Sport) back in 2022, has been one of the Blues’ most productive attackers this season and proved that once again with his assist for Disasi’s goal.
In the Premier League, Sterling is averaging a goal contribution every two games.
It was also the England international who won Chelsea a penalty in their last top-flight match, really impressing Pochettino on the day.
