Gabriel Agbonlahor has shared his concern about speculation that Chelsea want to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran.
Jhon Duran, 20, is a young striker reportedly attracting interest from the Blues.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano shared via his YouTube channel yesterday that Chelsea are interested in signing Duran from Villa and have planned talks to discuss a potential transfer swoop.
He’s scored four goals in 23 appearances so far this season, but the reality is he’s mainly used as a substitute and an understudy to Ollie Watkins at Villa Park.

TalkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor suggests Duran will be frustrated in his current situation for the Midlands club. However, he doesn’t believe the Chelsea target is better than Blues forward Nicolas Jackson, so perhaps a swich to Stamford Bridge makes little sense.
Agbonlahor told talkSPORT (7:45am, 25 January): “I think he’s (Duran) probably getting fed up himself because Watkins is guaranteed to start every game because he’s the best striker, he’s probably tired of being number two and getting 10 minutes, 15 minutes.
“He wants to be starting, but he wouldn’t start at Chelsea ahead of Jackson.”
If Chelsea bring in a new No 9 in the final days of the January window, we’d prefer them to be a goalscorer proven at the highest level. Unfortunately, Villa’s young frontman doesn’t tick that box.
We agree there’s been nothing yet from Duran to suggest he’s any better than Jackson.
Chelsea attacker Jackson, 22, has had his fair share of criticism during his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge. However, he’s got eight goals in all competitions and does still show flashes of brilliance alongside his inconsistency.
We’d much prefer Jackson leading the line over Duran during the second half of the season.
Eventually, it would be great for Chelsea to find and sign a proven scorer that can arrive at the club to score 20-plus goals a season.
