Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is open to the prospect of moving to Saudi Arabia this summer.
The Brazil international has had a frustrating second campaign at United where he has struggled with injuries and inconsistent form.
This has led to speculation that he could leave the club and journalist Alvaro de Grado claims that a move to Saudi is on Casemiro’s mind.
United reportedly received an offer close to €70 million from a Saudi Pro League club last summer.
The interest remains valid and it is left to be seen whether a fresh proposal is made later this year.
United likely to part ways with Casemiro
Casemiro has looked past his prime this term. Against Luton Town, he lost seven out of his nine duels. He also lost possession on seven occasions.
The Brazilian was also booked and was lucky to avoid a sending-off prior to half-time. Erik ten Hag decided to replace him at the interval.
It was more of a precaution from the manager, but the big question is whether Casemiro will remain at the club at the beginning of next season.
In our view, the club could be braced for proposals this summer with Sir Jim Ratcliffe looking to reduce the wage bill by offloading high earners.
Casemiro was signed from Madrid for €70m up front in 2022. We won’t be surprised if the club accept a similar package or slightly less from Saudi clubs.
Aside from Casemiro, Raphael Varane could also move to the Middle East this summer with Al-Nassr prepared to hand him a huge €58m annual deal.
United have decided against triggering a 12-month extension clause in the defender’s contract and he could walk away on a free transfer after June.
