John Fury, the father of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), vehemently dismissed accusations linking his son’s cut to delays in facing WBA, WBO, IBO, and IBF champion Oleksander Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs).
“This is utter nonsense. A sparring partner said what happened, accidents happen. Talk of nonsense won’t change anything, so shut up, keep yourselves in check, and let them fight on May 18. Then everything will be resolved.
Tyson looks good, doesn’t he? I reacted very harshly to the cut because when I saw the shape Tyson is in… He must have dedicated himself to the cause, and that pleases me greatly. I’ve always said that 70 percent of Tyson is too much for Usyk, but it looks like we’ll get more than 70 percent.
Tyson is in the best shape since winning the title. I was impressed; they’ve done a great job, so good luck to them,” said John Fury.
Earlier, Tyson’s nutritionist, George Lockhart, revealed that his client follows a special garlic diet, which helps the “Gypsy King” heal the cut before the championship fight.
