Toby Keith was a man of many talents. In addition to being an astute business man, an award-winning songwriter, and multi-platinum recording artist, Toby was also an actor.
In 2006, Toby Keith starred in the movie “Broken Bridges,” marking his feature film acting debut. Toby played the role of Bo Price, a destitute country singer whose brother has died in a military training accident. Bo returns home for his brother’s funeral where he reunites with his high school sweetheart, Angela Delton, and meets their 16-year-old daughter for the first time.

In an interview prior to the film’s release, Toby shared that he dedicated more time to that project than any other project during his career.
“I want to be the best I can be on film,” he said. “I want people to be impressed by my work, not leaving the theater saying, ‘Bless his heart.’”
Toby told the Oklahoman at the time that he felt a lot of pressure when it came time to start filming.
“On the first day, the first scene for me was the one where I meet my daughter for the first time,” he said. “There were so many executives there, plus about 500 other people. I knew if I didn’t do well, the movie was sunk. It was really being in the hot seat.”
Lindsey Haun, who starred as Toby’s daughter, was touring with the country star and reflected on what it was like to work with him on a movie set.
“On the set, I knew Toby would be good, but I had no idea he’d be that good,” Haun said. “Toby has talent right now that it takes other actors 10 years to get.”
Kelly Preston, who was married to John Travolta from 1991 to 2020, said that she took the role because of Toby’s involvement in the film.
“They told me they already had Toby attached, and I liked that. The story, and having Toby in it, resonated with me. I mean, Toby is all that and a bag of chips,” she recalled of being offered the part in “Broken Bridges.”
