Keanu Reeves is an older brother to three sisters.
The star of The Matrix and John Wick franchises is a brother to siblings Kim Reeves, Karina Miller and Emma Reeves.
The actor, who’s also a musician with the band Dogstar, was born on Sept. 2, 1964, to Patricia Taylor and Samuel Nowlin Reeves, Jr. in Beirut, Lebanon. Samuel, partly of Native Hawaiian descent, named his son the Hawaiian word for “cool breeze over the mountains.” Two years after Keanu was born, the couple welcomed their second child, daughter Kim Reeves, but split around the same time.
Patricia, a costume designer, moved the family to Sydney, Australia, in 1966, then eventually to New York City, where she married director Paul Aaron. After moving the family to Toronto and divorcing Aaron, Patricia wed music promoter Robert Miller. Patricia and Miller welcomed their only child together, daughter Karina Miller, in 1976.
Keanu also has a third sister through his father, who welcomed daughter Emma Reeves in 1980, though Emma reportedly said the siblings are not close.
Here’s everything to know about Keanu Reeve’s three sisters.

While Keanu was born in Lebanon and Kim was born in Australia, the two siblings primarily grew up in Toronto, often under the care of nannies while their mother was traveling for work.
“We never had anyone to play with us, to watch me riding horses or Keanu playing hockey,” Kim told PEOPLE in 1995, but “you can’t miss what you never had.”
During the same interview, Kim also discussed how Patricia’s relationships influenced their childhood. “How we lived our lives depended on the man of the moment,” Kim explained. “When mom was married to Paul, we dressed in white every Friday night and sang Shabbat songs, and we went to Jewish camps in the summer.”

As an adult, Kim breeds horses outside Los Angeles and has written and appeared in a few film projects. The siblings are very close. They have “an exceedingly deep bond,” Keanu’s friend and fellow actor Josh Richman told PEOPLE in 2003. “He loves her so much.”
Famous for not owning a house for many years, Keanu would often stay with Kim when he was in Los Angeles. “My brother is my prince,” Kim told PEOPLE in 1995. “He listens to every word, to every comma after every word, that you are saying.”
In August 2023, Keanu and Kim vacationed together in Capri, an island off the coast of Italy. They were spotted on a yacht, and Keanu was later seen driving a Vespa around town.
Keanu was Kim’s caretaker through her cancer battle

In 1991, Kim was diagnosed with leukemia. Keanu became her caretaker as she fought the disease for a decade before going into remission.
“Keanu helped me so much through my illness,” Kim told Woman’s Day in 1999. “When the pain got really bad, he would sit with me and hold my hand, and keep the ‘bad man’ from making me dance. He was supporting me and comforting me all the time, even when he was away.”
Kim inspired Keanu to start a cancer foundation
As a response to his sister’s struggle, Keanu started a nonprofit organization.
“I have a private foundation that’s been running for five or six years, and it helps aid a couple of children’s hospitals and cancer research,” he told Ladies Home Journal in 2009. “I don’t like to attach my name to it, I just let the foundation do what it does.”

On her LinkedIn, Karina describes Sparkhouse as “a modern, brand-centric production company.”

Keanu has brought along Karina, as well as Kim and their mother, as red carpet dates in the past. In turn, Karina has brought Keanu to her own red carpets. In 2019, he attended the premiere of her film Semper Fi.
“It’s really awesome to be here and be invited,” Keanu told ET on the red carpet. “It’s a great accomplishment, it’s a wonderful film.”
“He’s always been so supportive and so protective of me doing my own thing,” Karina added. “I always really appreciate that.”

In 2019, Karina talked to the L.A. Times about how much she loves cooking as a mental break from her high-stress job. “My job is wrangling like 200 people in months to make something creative in support of their vision, whereas when I’m cooking, it’s just me and I have more freedom,” she said. “And I just love feeding people; it de-stresses me.”
In fact, she designed her house to be centered on entertaining. “This Thanksgiving was the first time we had eight people over,” Karina explained in the interview. “My husband and my brother were watching football, my friend was helping mix drinks and I was cooking. We got to really test our theory that a lot of people could be in here enjoying the space and still be really comfortable, and I could be cooking but still interacting.”
