Jared Padalecki, star of Supernatural, has one need for his appearance in The Boys: both programs share a creator and a number of stars.
Jared Padalecki, star of Supernatural, has one requirement before he can appear on The Boys. The title team of vigilantes in Prime Video’s satirical superhero series, which is based on the comic book of the same name, fights corrupt superpowered people who misuse their powers. Several Supernatural performers, including Jensen Ackles, Nathan Mitchell, Lesley Nicol, Adrian Holmes, Christian Keyes, Jim Beaver, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and more, have made appearances in The Boys as the two programs share a creator, Eric Kripke.
In a recent interview with Collider, Padalecki disclosed that, subject to one condition, he would be open to making a cameo in The Boys. The Supernatural actor claims that Kripke “has reached out to” him regarding a possible role in the Prime Video series. However, the 41-year-old father of three children, Padalecki, asserts that he needs plenty of notice to get in shape before making an appearance. See here for his complete response:
“And my response to him 90% of the time is, “Dude, I’m 41 now with three kids. I’m not 25 and working out three hours a day. I know you’re going to fucking make me get naked, so give me a heads-up. I’m in, but let me get a nutritionist and a trainer and get in the hyperbaric chamber for eight months before you make me show up.” But yeah, it would obviously be a lot of fun to see Kripke again and to work on that show, which is a great show that I’m a fan of.”
Other Supernatural Stars To Appear In The Boys
Because both series were created by Kripke, several members of the Supernatural cast have subsequently appeared in The Boys. First and foremost, Ackles played Dean Winchester in Supernatural, serving as one of the two main protagonists alongside Padalecki’s Sam Winchester for the show’s entire 327-episode run. Shortly after Supernatural‘s series finale, Ackles was quickly cast in The Boys season 3 as Soldier Boy. Referenced throughout the first two seasons, the superpowered World War II veteran doesn’t make his debut until the season 3 premiere, “Payback.”
Black Noir is known for being masked, mysterious, and silent in The Boys, but despite that, he is played by Mitchell, the same actor who appeared as the friendly and open-minded angel, Kelvin, in Supernatural season 12. Keyes played the villainous archangel Michael in multiple episodes of Supernatural and A-Train’s older brother and coach, Nathan Franklin, in The Boys seasons 1 and 3. Beaver played the endearingly gruff Bobby Singer in Supernatural and returned as a character of the same name, Secretary of Defense Robert A. Singer, in The Boys.
Morgan, who played John Winchester, is the latest Supernatural star set to debut in The Boys season 4, premiering on June 13. Though his character remains unconfirmed, Morgan’s past roles as Negan in The Walking Dead and The Comedian in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen prove that he’s capable of playing complex and superpowered characters. Though Morgan will be the latest, it certainly won’t be the last time Kripke casts a Supernatural star in The Boys, with Padalecki also expressing interest.
