Hinokizu is considered a legendary figure in One Piece, mainly because there is almost no information about his origins or his abilities. Even characters such as Lafitte, Blackbeard, and Eustass Kid were in awe of Hinokizu.

The only way to identify the Hinokizu is with the help of the burn scar. It is possible that Hinokizu received the scar while fighting an opponent. Due to this reason, many believe that Jaguar D. Saul could be Hinokizu, as he was left in Ohara while it was still in flames. The fire could have easily scarred him and led to him receiving the name Hinokizu.

But there is a possibility that Hinokizu is a Giant. They are an ancient race that is capable of living for more than a hundred years. They are physically stronger than all the other races in One Piece. The main indication that Hinokizu may be a giant is that he is in possession of one of the Road Poneglyphs. The ginormous steles are impossible to break, and they cannot be carried by a human. However, a giant could possibly move a Poneglyph from its place. This adds further fuel to the speculation that Saul is Hinokizu.

Somehow, Hinokizu managed to move to another location. This implies that he has the physical strength to move something so heavy. There are a few names that have been associated with Hinokizu, but the two most common ones are Jaguar D. Saul and Scopper Gaban. Jaguar D. Saul meets a lot of criteria that make him the leading candidate. He is a Giant with insane strength, so he can lift heavy objects without any problem. He was last seen on Ohara, which was clad in flames due to the Buster Call.

Scopper Gaban, on the other hand, used to be a member of the Roger Pirates. So, he knew about the Road Poneglyph on Fish-Man Island. It is possible that he might have had it moved. Fans will have to wait to find out whether Hinokizu is one of them or someone else.
