El banner Elseworlds del Universo DC está pensado para ser utilizado como una forma de lanzar películas y programas sin necesidad de que estén vinculados a la línea de tiempo principal y al universo del propio DCU. Esto abre una serie de posibilidades para la franquicia y garantiza que series exitosas como The Batman puedan continuar en su propio rincón cinematográfico.
Si bien es poco probable que los planes originales para Justice League 2 reciban luz verde para Elseworlds exactamente como se imaginaron, lanzamientos como Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox muestran que DC no tiene miedo de acercarse al tipo de tramas que implicaría la película. Como tal, todavía no es imposible que el lanzamiento pueda surgir de alguna forma transformada más adelante. De manera similar, si bien Snyder ha hablado de alejarse del género de superhéroes, también ha hablado de estar dispuesto a trabajar con DC nuevamente en el futuro, lo que significa que aún queda una pequeña posibilidad.
