Roller skater drags dog-walker, 88, to her death after getting caught on her leash

This is the horrifying moment an 88-year-old dog walker was dragged to her death after a roller skater got caught on her lead.

In shocking CCTV, shown to a judge in Moscow, two elderly women can be seen strolling through a city park walking their pet dogs – one of which was on a long leash.

Suddenly, roller skater Igor Berin, 56, races past the women and gets caught in the lead pulling one of the pensioners off her feet and dragging her along a path.

Prosecutors told the court that the victim suffered severe head injuries when she hit the paved pathway and died later in hospital.

Berin walked free from a Russian court after pleading guilty to causing death by negligence at a hearing on November 18.

Berin was sentenced to a year of ‘restricted freedom’ following the incident, which happened in May

This sentence means that Berin must wear a home detention ankle tag, stay home during certain hours and is forbidden from attending any mass event.

Prosecutors said although Berin had stopped after hitting the victim in the crash six months ago he skated on later telling police he didn’t realise she was badly injured.

The Moscow Prosecutor’s Office said after the hearing: ‘After the collision, the pensioner in serious condition was taken to the hospital.

‘She did not regain consciousness for three weeks and died on June 15.’
