YG Entertainment (hereafter YG) has announced that it will disclose the decision regarding the re-contracting of BLACKPINK (Jennie, Rosé, Lisa, Jisoo) at a later date.
YG revealed its quarterly report on November 14th.
In this quarterly report, YG stated, “As of the disclosure date, negotiations for a new exclusive contract with the artists are in progress. The final results will be announced through subsequent disclosures of key management matters related to investment decisions.”
This marks YG’s official statement on the re-contracting negotiations with BLACKPINK after a period of approximately two months. BLACKPINK, which debuted in August 2016, has been engaged in re-contracting negotiations with YG since August of this year, ahead of the expiration of their seven-year exclusive contract.
There have been speculations in certain circles that three BLACKPINK members (Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, excluding Rosé) have decided not to renew their contracts with YG. There have also been rumors that Jennie and Jisoo plan to establish their own one-person agencies.
Regarding these speculations, YG officially stated to Newsen on September 25th, “There is no confirmed decision regarding the re-contracting of BLACKPINK and their future activities.”
YG Entertainment represents not only BLACKPINK but also artists such as AKMU, WINNER, SECHSKIES, JINU, TREASURE, BABY MONSTER, and actors and actresses including Kim Hee-ae, Seo Jung-yeon, Son Na-eun, Yoo Seung-ho, Yoo In-na, Lee Sung-kyung, Lee Soo-hyuk, Lee Ho-jung, Jang Ki-yong, Jang Hyun-sung, Jung Hye-young, Cha Seung-won, Jin Kyung, Choi Ji-woo, Han Seung-yeon, and model Joo Woo-jae.
