It was supposed to be a friendly golf match between two generations of quarterback greats. But then Josh Allen made it personal.
A team of Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers faced Patrick Mahomes and Allen in Capital One’s The Match in June 2022. Brady and Allen reflected on the the 12-hole golf exhibition at Wynn Las Vegas on Brady’s weekly podcast “Let’s Go! on Monday”
“Josh was talking a lot of s— before the match,” Brady said. “He had this big little talkative mouth on the driving range and the day before when we got on the course.”
Allen’s belligerent disposition that day was because he shot 100 par in a previous match, according to Brady. But then after all the trash talk from Allen, Brady hardly ever even saw the Buffalo Bills quarterback during the match, as they were frequently on opposite lanes. Brady and Allen only saw each other on the first hole and the 12th hole.
“It was really unfortunate for Patrick that Josh left him hanging all day and I had to remind him of that,” Brady said.
Rodgers drained a putt on the final hole to give him and Brady a 1-up win. Allen meanwhile made several errored putts and even put spectators in harms way.
