Wrexham owner Rob McElhenny joined Travis and Jason Kelce on their New Heights podcast in the middle of a game on Tuesday – and helped teach the NFL brothers about the other football.
The actor owns the team with Ryan Reynolds, who joined Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift at the MetLife stadium on Oct. 1 to see the NFL star Kelce play for the Chiefs in the narrow win at New York Jets.
McElhenney is a massive Philadelphia Eagles fan but since taking over as Wrexham owner alongside Reynolds in November 2020, has been a face for the other football that dominates the rest of the sporting world outside of the United States.
And he, alongside wife Kaitlin Olson, joined the brothers on their podcast with Wrexham playing on Tuesday in a 2-2 tie against Harrogate Town.
‘Wrexham is playing right now,’ McElhenney tells Travis and Jason. ‘It’s currently 2-2, oh it’s all over. But again, in football – and I have to call it football so I don’t get stabbed when I go to Europe – global football, 2-2 is not that bad.

It was an away game, we get a point, which is always a good thing.’
Jason then asked how many games Wrexham has left this season, to which Olson interjected: ‘8,500 games left in the season.’
Jason laughed, and then Travis followed up by asking about in-season tournaments or, as they are known in Wrexham, cup competitions.
‘It f***ing blows my mind – we’ve kind of adapted that from you guys,’ Kelce added, referencing the new competition within the NBA this season.
‘That’s a fascinating part of the sport,’ McElhenny explained. ‘Some people really care a lot, other people don’t care at all. You have fanbases that are sort of torn.
‘I do find it’s a win-win because if you advance and continue to win through the tournament people get excited and if you lose, nobody cares.
‘And in fact, the NFC championship last year which we came to, we watched the Wrexham game in the parking lot with the tailgate before the game and we drew that game against a team that was three leagues higher than us.
‘I’ve become so annoying with that – I’ve been correcting people on the word ‘soccer’ versus football. People just want to smack me.’

Travis responded: ‘I love it though, you’re all in. That’s how you know you’re doing the right thing. You’re all in, baby.’
Should Travis and Taylor ever make the trip to north Wales, they’ll be surprised by the humble surroundings Wrexham have as a team.
Their stadium, the racecourse ground, holds 10,771 people.
Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs play at the 77,000-seater Arrowhead Stadium while Swift has dates in England next summer at Wembley stadium – the venue where the final of those in-season tournaments are played. Wembley holds 90,000 people.

Wrexham is second in the fourth tier of English football after Tuesday’s draw, with 37 points from 20 games.
They have 26 league games remaining and the top three teams will be promoted to the third tier for next season.
Reynolds and McElhenney have had a number of star names at Wrexham games before – such as Hugh Jackman, Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd.
