Netflix’s live-action One Piece sets the stage for Luffy’s journey in season 1, but season 2 will feature even more exciting anime scenes.
Netflix’s live-action One Piece sets up its story and characters in season 1, introducing viewers to Luffy D. Monkey (Iñaki Godoy) and his quest to become the Pirate King — but season 2 promises to adapt even more exciting scenes from the beloved anime. The first batch of episodes see Luffy gathering the initial members of the Straw Hat Pirates and defeating Arlong. It’s a strong start for the Netflix series, but based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga and the One Piece anime, season 2 will be even better.
One Piece season 2 is already confirmed, and it promises to introduce new Straw Hats, villains, and obstacles for Luffy on his journey to uncovering the legendary One Piece. If the series sticks to the source material, it should at least adapt the Arabasta Arc in the coming episodes. Considering Arabasta is one of One Piece‘s best arcs, there’s a lot to look forward to. Of course, some scenes spark more excitement than others.
10. Ace Saves The Straw Hat Pirates
Luffy’s Brother Is A Highly Anticipated Character
One character missing from Netflix’s One Piece season 1 is Portgas D. Ace, Luffy’s chosen brother. Ace is a fan-favorite One Piece character, so his entrance in season 2 is highly anticipated. It’ll be made better by the fact that he gets to save the Straw Hats during his first interaction with them. After Luffy gets in between Ace and Smoker — a character already teased for One Piece season 2 — Smoker and the Marines follow Luffy back to the Straw Hats. Ace makes room for them to escape, marking a flashy debut for the One Piece character.
9. Chopper Joining The Straw Hat Pirates
Chopper Becomes One Of The Best Crew Members
Ace isn’t the only exciting character joining the cast of One Piece season 2, and Tony Tony Chopper is a much-anticipated addition to the Straw Hat Pirates. The crew’s doctor, who is half-human and half-reindeer thanks to a Devil Fruit, Chopper may be difficult to bring to life in live-action. However, the efforts will be worthwhile, as Chopper is an essential part of Luffy’s gang. Like most of Luffy’s Straw Hat Pirates, Chopper’s recruitment proves also incredibly emotional. If the live-action One Piece succeeds at bringing Chopper to the small screen, his season 2 character arc is bound to be a tearjerker.
8. Nico Robin Joining The Crew
The Straw Hat Pirates Greet Her With Emotion & Humor
Emotional recruitments aren’t hard to find in the One Piece anime, and Nico Robin joining the Straw Hat Pirates will be a heartfelt affair in season 2. In general, her introduction will be a fun one to witness, as her Devil Fruit powers are among the most unique in the series. It’ll be interesting to see how the live-action show handles her powers, as well as her journey to redemption. When Nico Robin agrees to join the Straw Hats, some of the other members are less than thrilled. It’s a scene that mixes comedy and drama well, and with any luck, One Piece season 2 will nail it.
7. Zoro Fighting The Baroque Works
This Fight Is Sure To Be Flashy In Live-Action
One Piece is Mackenyu’s best anime adaptation, and his performance as Zoro is a standout part of season 1. Needless to say, it’ll be thrilling to see Zoro grow as a swordsman as the live-action One Piece continues. And assuming season 2 adapts the Arabasta Arc properly, viewers will get to watch Zoro take on 100 Baroque Works agents on his own. If done well, this fight is bound to be one of the best scenes of One Piece season 2. It also sets up a later confrontation that’s even more gripping.
6. Sanji Fighting Mr. 2
The Live-Action One Piece Can Play Up The Choreography
Zoro won’t be the only one with a fight on his hands early in One Piece season 2, and while none of the other Straw Hat Pirates have confrontations as exciting as his, Sanji’s face-off with Mr. 2 comes close. Although Sanji and Mr. 2’s kicking match doesn’t carry much emotional weight, it contains plenty of humor. And if One Piece season 2 handles the choreography well, it’s likely to be one of the most gripping action sequences of the next outing. Additionally, Mr. 2 will factor into the Straw Hat Pirates’ success later on.
5. Luffy Losing To Sir Crocodile
One Piece Season 2 Will Feature Luffy’s First Big Loss
One Piece season 1 mostly sees Luffy overcoming the odds, but season 2 will feature his first major defeat. Sir Crocodile is poised to be the Big Bad of One Piece season 2, and if the live-action show follows the anime, Luffy will face him multiple times in the coming episodes. Unfortunately, their first fight doesn’t go so well for the Straw Hats’ leader. Sir Crocodile is incredibly strong and wields a Devil Fruit that makes it difficult for Luffy to hit him. The villain leaves Luffy dying in the desert after their initial encounter, and it’s a harrowing moment — though it builds to a satisfying conclusion later.
4. Zoro Fighting (And Beating) Mr. 1
Mackenyu Can Elevate This In Live-Action
Zoro’s fight with the Baroque Agents is bound to be flashy, but his later face-off with Mr. 1 will be even more intense. The assassin is a powerful Devil Fruit eater, and the fact that Zoro isn’t able to slice through steel makes Mr. 1 a massive challenge for the Straw Hats’ swordsman. Zoro barely survives his encounter with Mr. 1, but that makes it all the more satisfying when he’s able to defeat the One Piece villain and take a massive step toward his goal of becoming the greatest swordsman. With Mackenyu’s acting skills, this scene is sure to hit hard in One Piece season 2.
3. The Straw Hat Pirates Finding The Bomb
This Will Be One Of Season 2’s Most Tense Scenes
Toward the end of the Arabasta Arc, the Straw Hat Pirates are tasked with finding and disarming a bomb before it can destroy Arabasta’s palace plaza. The final moments before they take care of it are among the most intense from this arc, and the live-action series can ramp up the tension. As the crew fights to help Vivi reach the bomb, they showcase how far they’ve come as a team. And even after they reach the weapon, it seems all hope is lost — until Pell makes a sacrifice and saves the day. This scene is charged from beginning to end, and its live-action counterpart should be no different.
2. Luffy Beating Sir Crocodile And Freeing Arabasta
An Epic Showdown Will Conclude Season 2
The biggest and most exciting scene to look forward to in One Piece season 2 is Luffy’s fight with Crocodile, which concludes with the Straw Hat leader liberating the people of Arabasta. This outcome alone will undoubtedly be emotional, and Godoy’s proven he can pull on viewers’ heartstrings during the later episodes of One Piece season 1. Even without the emotional impact of this fight, it’s a great action sequence that will highlight Luffy’s growth. Luffy’s final confrontation with Arlong may have been somewhat anticlimactic in season 1, but his showdown with Sir Crocodile will be an epic conclusion to One Piece season 2.
1. The Straw Hats Parting Ways With Vivi
One Piece Season 2 Will End On An Emotional Note
Vivi and Karoo will feature prominently in One Piece season 2, and they’ll likely steal viewers’ hearts before the sophomore outing is through. Of course, this will make bidding farewell to the duo that much harder. At the end of the Arabasta Arc, Vivi stays behind to help Arabasta recover from its civil war. However, she’s devastated to say goodbye to the Straw Hat Pirates. Their means of bidding her farewell is incredibly emotional, and it leaves things on a heartfelt and hopeful note. This is likely to have the same impact in the live-action One Piece season 2, ending this chapter of the show well.
