One of the most notorious cases in FBI history unfolds on the big screen with the new trailer for Above Suspicion.
Emilia Clarke stars as Susan Smith, a woman desperate to escape her impoverished life in a Kentucky coal mining town.
She sees an opportunity to get out when new FBI agent Mark Putnam (Jack Huston) comes to town and recruits her as his informant… before things fall off the rails.

The trailer begins with a local sheriff playing guitar at his leisure when he sees a young man in a truck pull a mask over his head.
The young man runs into a bank and declares, ‘This is a stick-up’ tossing a bag to the teller and instructing her to fill it up with money.
The sheriff bursts in with a shotgun, demanding the robber to put the gun down, as shots are fired.

Smith is seen coming out of a shop while Agent Putnam is being introduced to local law enforcement, along with his wife Kathy (Sophie Lowe).
Smith is seen meeting with Putnam, who wants her to meet him in the parking lot at 7 AM, and when she asks why she’d do that, he says, ‘to keep your husband out of prison.’
Later Putnam tells Smith she is, ‘the key of everything I wanna do here,’ as she wants her help to take down this bank robber, then move her and her kids to a new state.
Introduced: Smith is seen coming out of a shop while Agent Putnam is being introduced to local law enforcement, along with his wife Kathy (Sophie Lowe)
Why: Smith is seen meeting with Putnam, who wants her to meet him in the parking lot at 7 AM, and when she asks why she’d do that, he says, ‘to keep your husband (Johnny Knoxville) out of prison’
The next morning, her husband catches her going through his bag, before the FBI announces their presence, and he’s shot trying to flee the home and arrested.
Later Smith seductively tells Putnam, ‘we are one hell of a team,’ as their illicit romance begins shortly thereafter.
They’re seen holding hands while each inside their own car, as Putnam says he has to go and lets go.
Bag: The next morning, her husband catches her going through his bag, before the FBI announces their presence, and he’s shot trying to flee the home
Romance: Later Smith seductively tells Putnam, ‘we are one hell of a team,’ as their illicit romance begins shortly thereafter
Let go: They’re seen holding hands while each inside their own car, as Putnam says he has to go and lets go
Smith tells her friend Jolene (Thora Birch) that she’s, ‘an important informant,’ though she knows what’s really going on.
‘Ain’t nothing good gonna come from messing around with that federal cop,’ Jolene says to her plainly.
But when Smith tells Putnam she’s pregnant, he starts to back away, saying he has a job and a family.
Important: Smith tells her friend Jolene (Thora Birch) that she’s, ‘an important informant,’ though she knows what’s really going on
Ain’t nothing good: ‘Ain’t nothing good gonna come from messing around with that federal cop,’ Jolene says to her plainly
Job and family: But when Smith tells Putnam she’s pregnant, he starts to back away, saying he has a job and a family
Putnam tells her he doesn’t want to see her anymore, but when Smith tries to go home to her husband Cash (Johnny Knoxville), he says she should ‘stay at your boyfriend’s house’ and slams the door in her face.
Someone tries to burn down Putnam’s house, but he shoots the Molotov cocktail right out of his (or her?) hand, as Smith says ‘that’s just a warning.’
The trailer winds down with a number of dramatic shots including Smith getting in a bar fight and Putnam’s wife saying she, ‘wanted a better life so much you thought you could just take mine.’
Above Suspicion will be released in theaters and everywhere movies can be rented on May 14, with its release on Blu-ray and DVD following on May 18.
