‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ is in theaters Dec. 22
In a behind-the-scenes clip from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the sequel to the 2018 hit, Momoa says, “Feels good to be back,” as he is shown holding the character’s golden trident on set.
The new film follows Momoa’s Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, as Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) returns for another attempt at taking revenge on Atlantis. Patrick Wilson returns as Aquaman’s half-brother, who teams up with him in order to stop Black Manta.
“Jason’s brought his own self and his style, his taste and his culture. He introduced the world to that side of Aquaman,” Mateen II, 37, says of Momoa’s approach to the character.
Wilson, 50, says in the clip that the character “is so much of Jason.” He adds, “He’s able to bring out [all] sides of himself on screen.”

Director James Wan is back, and in the featurette, the pair can be seen embracing after Momoa completes a stunt.
“In the first movie, Aquaman is this loner, bit of a traveler, trying to find his place in the world,” Wan explains. “In the second movie, he is now a king with a day job, and he has a purpose.”

“The bar is set so high — Arthur could lose his son and his wife,” Momoa says of the stakes Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom sets.
A synopsis for the new movie says Black Manta “unleashes an ancient and malevolent force” by taking a mythical trident as a weapon in the sequel.

Momoa says in the video, “I’m excited to fight Manta. It’s just huge, going to be amazing to watch. There’s nothing really like it, we went all out. It’s going to be — bleep! — amazing.”
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is in theaters Dec. 22.
