The famous actor caused controversy at last year’s awards in the same night he picked up an award. Has he won any more?
Will Smith landed his first Academy Award in 2022. However his moment of triumph was marred by an incident earlier in the evening when he reacted to a Chris Rock joke about his wife’s hair, walking onto the stage and striking the comedian before telling him to keep “my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.”
Aside from his 2022 capture, Smith has picked up two further nomiantions for Best Actor. These were for his performance as Muhammad Ali in the eponymous ‘Ali’ in 2002 as well as his role as homeless salesman Chris gardner in 2006′s ‘Pursuit of Happyness’.
Smith ultimately lost out to Denzel Washington in 2002 as well as Forest Whitaker in 2007.
The chances of Will Smith winning another Oscar soon are pretty slim. Though his ten year Academy attendance ban does not explicitly ban him from winning an award, the fallout from the slap will likely mean that he will struggle to pick up nominations.
What other awards has Will Smith won?
Will Smith has not only succeeded in the world of cinema. The performer also has eight Grammy Awards nominations, with four wins.
