‘No chance’… TalkSPORT pundit tells Premier League club not to sell £60m Chelsea target

Perry Groves has urged Arsenal to make sure they don’t sell Chelsea target Aaron Ramsdale next month.

Aaron Ramsdale, 25, has been under the spotlight this season after losing his position as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper.

The England shot-stopper is sat on the bench most games now for his club, so it’s no surprise that he’s linked with a possible move away from the Emirates Stadium.

Interestingly, talkSPORT reported this week that Chelsea are considering stepping up their interest to sign Ramsdale from Arsenal by making a move in January. This comes at the same time that Blues keeper Robert Sanchez has picked up a knee injury.

TalkSPORT pundit and former Arsenal player Groves doesn’t believe that the Gunners should be getting rid of Ramsdale mid-season. Instead, he should stay in North London for the second half of the campaign and continue to be the understudy to David Raya.

When asked if Arsenal should sell Ramsdale in January if they receive a £45-50million bid, Groves told talkSPORT: “Absolutely no chance. Sorry Aaron but you’re going to stay until the end of the season. What you’ve done for the club in the past, I’ll let you go at the end of the season.”

Arsenal shouldn’t sell Aaron Ramsdale

From an Arsenal perspective, we can understand why getting rid of a quality number two goalkeeper is an unnecessary risk during a season that they’re competing for silverware in numerous competitions.

However, Ramsdale’s in the position as a player where he’ll be desperate for more minutes, especially as it’s the Euro 2024 international tournament next summer.

We’re very much sceptical to the idea of Chelsea splashing out £60million on Arsenal gloveman Ramsdale, but he’s probably an upgrade in-between the sticks.
