Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has had to contend with a lot of injuries this season, especially of late.
Mauricio Pochettino has just lost Reece James and Robert Sanchez, unsure when the latter will return to action.
However, the Argentine is set to be handed a boost, with TEAMtalk journalist Fraser Gillan claiming that Carney Chukwuemeka will be back next month.
The midfielder started Chelsea‘s first two Premier League games of the season against Liverpool and West Ham United but has not played a minute of football since then because of a knee problem.
The Blues signed Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa last year in a £20m deal (Sky Sports).
Carney Chukwuemeka’s return will be a big boost for Mauricio Pochettino
Pochettino will be glad to have Chukwuemeka back. The former Villa man impressed in those two games versus Liverpool and West Ham.
In the 3-1 defeat to David Moyes’ side at the London Stadium, he scored a terrific goal. It was in vain in the end, but it was an example of what he can really do.
Once Chukwuemeka returns to action, hopefully he can stay fit. The England youth international did not play a lot of football last season.
Chukwuemeka has a lot of talent, but he is not going to be able to really harness it if he is on the bench all the time or keeps picking up injuries.
The Chelsea youngster will not be involved in his side’s Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle United tonight, but one man who could is Christopher Nkunku.
Pochettino told reporters in his pre-match press conference yesterday that the Frenchman could make his debut at Stamford Bridge later. Like Chukwuemeka, he has also been sidelined because of an injury, which he picked up against Borussia Dortmund at the end of the club’s pre-season.
