Man United have inserted unbelievable clause in Mason Mount’s deal, could land Chelsea extra money

Manchester United have inserted an unbelievable clause in the Mason Mount deal he signed when he joined from Chelsea.

Mason Mount has been the poster boy around Stamford Bridge in recent years after coming through Chelsea’s academy, but he completed a permanent exit away from Stamford Bridge at the start of the season.

The attacking midfielder joined Man United in a deal worth an initial £55million (Sky Sports).

Unfortunately, the attacking midfielder’s opening few months at Old Trafford has been disrupted by injuries so far. He’s got zero goals and one assist in 12 appearances for his new club.

Man United could owe Chelsea more money

The Athletic claims that Man United will have to cough up a further £1 million payment to Chelsea each time one thing happens with Mount.

It is explained that the £1m clause will be activated every time that Man United win the Premier League title as long as Mount plays in 70 per cent of the games.

This clause is in place for the full five-year contract in Manchester.

Mason Mount clause

We’re hardly putting our neck on the lines by saying we don’t think Chelsea will get another penny out of Man United for this Mount deal.

Just like Chelsea, United look a million miles away from challenging for a Premier League title any time soon. Manchester City have had a stranglehold on the league crown in recent years, while Liverpool and Arsenal look the most likely to challenge them.

The Athletic recently claimed that Mount isn’t missing boyhood club Chelsea as much as he expected.

It’s not a nice sight watching him in Man United colours, but the feeling is mutual.

Chelsea supporters still have big success stories from the academy to enjoy, including the likes of Reece James and Conor Gallagher.
