Fans were in for quite the surprise when The Weeknd and Selena were caught sharing a kiss outside of Giorgio Baldi restaurant in LA. Selena was not shy about showing PDA as she wrapped her arms around the 26-year-old singer and nuzzled his neck.

One person who may not have been too pleased with the photos of The Weeknd and Selena kissing was his ex-girlfriend, Bella Hadid. Not long after the pictures surfaced, Bella hit the “unfollow” button on Selena’s Instagram profile. However, Bella still follows The Weeknd, and Selena also remains one of Bella’s followers.

The Weeknd debuted his music video for “Party Monster,” and many fans were left wondering whether the singer had been crushing on Selena prior to their late-night rendezvous at Giorgio Baldi restaurant. In the song, The Weeknd sings, “Ooh, she mine, ooh, girl, bump a line / Angelina, lips like Angelina / Like Selena, ass shaped like Selena.” It’s unclear whether the Selena in question is Selena Gomez or the late Selena Quintanilla, but given the fact that he and the “Hands to Myself” singer both performed at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2015 and have known each other for quite some time, it’s easy to assume that lyric is about her. Another person who didn’t seem happy with Selena moving on was her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. TMZ caught up with the “Sorry” singer as he was leaving Delilah in West Hollywood and asked him if he listens to the fellow Canadian’s music. While touring The Weeknd’s hometown of Toronto, the “I Feel It Coming” singer stole a page out of pal Drake’s playbook and took Selena on a romantic date at Ripley’s Aquarium. He shared a number of photos and videos from the outing on his Instagram story, including a Boomerang video of Selena twirling around and a shot of him gazing into a jellyfish tank. The aquarium just so happens to be the same one Drake and Rihanna visited back in 2016. No word on whether they got matching shark tattoos.

While The Weeknd usually steered clear from talking about his relationship with Selena in interviews, he seemed to have no problem showing off their romance on social media. A month later, the couple surprised fans when they broke up after almost a year of dating. According to People, long distance was the reason for their split. “She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship,” a source told the publication at the time. “It’s been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn’t easy on them.” Even though Selena “always made an effort” to join him on tour, “that played a part in them getting distant. It’s over for now, but they’re still in touch.”
