Chelsea should consider making a move for Bournemouth’s in-form striker Dominic Solanke.
That is according to talkSPORT pundits Jamie O’Hara and Ray Parlour.
Dominic Solanke, who’s 26, is enjoying a fantastic spell right now in Bournemouth colours.
The English centre-forward has 13 goals in 21 games across all competitions so far this season, including 12 in the Premier League.
He’s joint-second in the league’s goalscoring charts with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah. Manchester City’s Erling Haaland is the only player in the division to outscore the Bournemouth talisman so far this campaign.
Speaking via talkSPORT (6:37am, 26 December), Jamie O’Hara and Ray Parlour were discussing Chelsea’s long-term problem in the No 9 position.
A suggestion has been put forward that the Blues should try re-sign Solanke. He previously came through Chelsea’s academy as a youngster and made one first-team appearance for the club, but his senior path took him to Liverpool then Bournemouth.
O’Hara said: “They need a striker.”
Parlour added: “They’ve wanted a striker for ages…”
O’Hara said: “Go and get Solanke.”
Parlour responded: “Woah, that’s not a bad shout.”
Chelsea should sign Dominic Solanke
The Daily Star reported earlier this month that Bournemouth value Solanke at around £50million amid interest from the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham.
He’s thriving in Andoni Iraola’s side and turning into a serious Premier League goalscorer, so would he risk a move away to a new club?
Speaking via Football London back in May, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard hailed Solanke as a “high talent”.
It’s great to hear that the Blues icon rates him. However, we’d still be hesitant about the idea of Bournemouth’s frontman becoming the next Chelsea striker.
Let’s wait and see how much longer this purple patch of form continues on.
