Jason Statham is reunited with his Expendables co-star Sylvester Stallone for an upcoming action film.
It’s called Levon’s Trade, and it sees retired black ops hero Levon Cade (Statham) pulled back into the fight when his boss’s teenage daughter mysteriously vanishes. He’ll have to rediscover the skills that made him a feared figure and brave a network of dangerous criminals to bring his target home.
It’s not the only action film on the horizon for The Stath. You’ll see him next in The Beekeeper, a movie that follows more or less similar lines to Levon’s Trade (one man’s brutal campaign for vengeance, etc). Interestingly, both films share the same director in David Ayer (Suicide Squad, Fury). He and Statham look to have found a formula that works.
Stallone, who got an Oscar nomination for his Rocky screenplay in 1977, is on writing duties for the first time since Rambo: Last Blood. The film isn’t entirely his creation, however. It’s actually adapted from a thriller novel of the same name by comic author Chuck Dixon.
With a total of 11 novels in the Levon Cade series, there might be plenty more team-ups between Stallone, Statham and Ayer to come.
