Unveiling the Staggering Figures: Manchester City’s Total Spending Spree under Pep Guardiola’s Reign

Treble winners had to come a long way to become the kings of Europe. But, how much money has City spent on transfers all these years? Find out here.

Pep Guardiola

Manchester City’s efforts finally payed off last season after they won the treble making football history. Josep Guardiola’s appointment as manager back in 2016 revolutionized both Manchester and the whole Premier League, as the Spanish manager became the man in charge of taking City to international glory.

The ‘sky blue’ team has also been positioning themselves as big spenders in European football, specially since 2008, when the club became majority owned by Sheikh Mansour, one of football’s wealthiest owners. After years of big inversion, Manchester City could win their first Premier League in history back in 2012.

And after becoming league title contenders, City’s owners wanted to take the team to the next level: win the Champions League. They convinced probably the best manager available and Guardiola became the center of a very ambitious project. That project has been extremely succesful: 5 Premier League titles, 2 FA Cups, 4 EFL Cups, 2 FA Community Shield wins, 1 UEFA Champions League title and 1 UEFA Super Cup.

How much has Manchester City spent during the ‘Pep Guardiola era’?

In the last few years, City has become big transfer market protagonists and part of their success is due to the big inversion to sign the best players in the world. According to MARCA, the ‘sky blue’ team has spent a total of 1.480 million euros since Pep Guardiola took charge of the team. The biggest transfer they made was the signing of Jack Grealish for 105 million pounds.
