Kanye West Facing Assault Lawsuit For Punching Fan Who Wanted Autograph
Kanye West has some legal trouble on his hands. The 46-year-old artist is facing a lawsuit for punching a fan in 2022 who wanted his autograph.
The Blast procured legal documents which outline the cause. Reportedly, Justin Poplawski, a “well-respected autograph” dealer, asked for the Donda artist’s signature in Los Angeles in January 2022. He claims Ye yelled “Go the f**k (out of) here before I beat the f**k out of you,” threatened to “make a f**king example” out of him,” and mentioned his divorce from ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
West allegedly punched him several times and “severely injured” him, all of which took place while Poplawski’s wife, Tiffany Marshall, was present as they were “lawfully standing on public property.” The couple is suing the “Good Life” artist for assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and loss of consortium and filed the lawsuit through the Los Angeles County Court.
Footage of the incident surfaced online shortly after it took place, depicting Kanye West yelling while Justin Poplawski was lying on the ground. At the time, the police conducted an investigation but did not press charges against the father of four. “After a thorough and careful review of all the evidence, our office is declining to file based on no reasonable likelihood of conviction,” the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office stated.
Elsewhere, Kanye West is still trying to beat allegations of being anti-semitic. In December, he was caught on camera ranting about Jewish people, Drake, and more while in Las Vegas. Ye took to social media shortly after to apologize to the Jewish community and wrote the apology in Hebrew.
Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg called cap on the apology. “I wonder what the sample is that Kanye needs to try to clear before Friday,” the Cheap Heat host said. “We all know Kanye notoriously is late with handling album stuff and I just wonder whether there was something getting held up and someone said, ‘Hey, this sample does not get cleared if he does not issue an apology.’”
