Chelsea’s David Datro Fofana looks like he’s set to join Burnley this month in a transfer story that has moved very quickly.
David Datro Fofana, who’s just 21, spent the first half of the season out on loan in Germany with Union Berlin.
The young striker scored just two goals in 17 appearances for the Bundesliga club, struggling to nail down a starting position.
Chelsea confirmed via their official website yesterday that the centre-forward has been recalled from Union Berlin.
Now, there’s a lot of transfer speculation that suggests a fresh move is on the cards.

First of all, The Athletic claimed that Premier League side Burnley agreed a deal in principle to sign Chelsea’s Fofana on loan for the rest of the 2023/24 season.
They explained that the 21-yaer-old will jet in this week ahead of an imminent medical.
In addition, well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed via X that there’s now an agreement in place for Fofana’s loan switch to Turf Moor.
Apparently, the forward’s move doesn’t include any kind of buy option. The player’s medical will take place on Saturday, too.
Chelsea believe that it’s an important step for the youngster to play in England’s top division, something he’s only done sparingly in the Blues first team.
Burnley to sign David Datro Fofana on loan
We’re optimistic that this could be a great move for the Chelsea youngster.
The Blues coughed up between £8m-£10m to sign Fofana a year ago (BBC), but fans are still unclear on whether he’s got a future at Stamford Bridge.
Let’s hope the inexperienced talent can hit the ground running in Vincent Kompany’s side and score goals in the Premier League.
No Burnley player has scored more than four goals across the first half of the season, so can Fofana be the player to inspire them in their fight against relegation?
