Halfway into the January transfer window, one of the biggest surprises up to now has been that Chelsea have not really engaged in any talks to make a signing so far.
Plenty of pundits and supporters have pleaded for the Blues to bring in a top striker in order to rescue what has been a poor campaign so far.
Even though Nicolas Jackson is on a relatively decent number of goals for a young forward in their first season of English football, many have left criticism at his door for the part he has played in the Blues languishing in mid table.

The number one reported target for the Blues this month has been Victor Osimhen, with their interest in his addition expanding back over a year now.
However, they will have noted that he signed a new contract with Napoli just a few weeks’ ago, and is therefore unlikely to be on the move this month.
With that off the table until the end of the season, there is a short-term option that the club simply have to go for if they want to see instant results.
Benzema signing can save Chelsea’s season
Reports have claimed that Karim Benzema is unhappy with how things are going in Saudi Arabia, and is reportedly considering his options in an attempt to leave.
Given his age, a short-term deal would be perfect for both parties, and a return to a side challenging for European football is certainly one he would consider.
He may also look this way in order to find a club that will be sure to hand him plenty of minutes.
Given his quality, he would almost certainly be an instant starter at Stamford Bridge until they have the summer transfer window to try and address the position for the long-term.
Chelsea have been missing a pure goalscorer for years now, and Benzema could turn out to be their perfect addition.
