One Piece: Egghead Island Buster Call, Explained

A buster call is called on Egghead island, putting the straw hats in a difficult situation in the One Piece manga.

Oda’s One Piece finally returned with chapter 1104 and it was a chapter that was absolutely spectacular and delivered on many plot threads that the author had slowly established over the course of the Final Saga so far. Not only did fans get to see an incredibly cathartic battle between Kuma and Saturn, but they also got to see some amazing plot developments pertaining to the Egghead Island arc itself.

Now, things are starting to move towards the finale of the arc and it appears that, to make things even worse, a Navy Buster Call has been issued to amp up the intensity of this already amazing arc even further.

The Siege Of Egghead Island

The Egghead Island arc has been nothing short of staggering in the series so far. This arc has seen some of the most incredible characters, such as Vegapunk, Bartholomew Kuma, and Jewelry Bonney take center stage and, at the same time, it has also introduced fans to some of the most amazing villains, such as Saint Saturn. At the center of this arc is the major event known as the Egghead Incident. Essentially, in order to kill Vegapunk, the Navy decided to set out in full force with their full power, which comprised several large warships. With Admiral Kizaru and Saint Saturn on board, the goal was to kill the genius Navy scientist. However, once they learned that Straw Hat Luffy had made his way to Egghead, Kizaru decided to call every single warship in the surroundings to report to him and surround Egghead Island.

In total, there are 100 ships around Egghead Island right now, among which there appear to be 20 giant warships. On these ships, there are 30,000 soldiers, including nine Vice Admirals, one Admiral, and, of course, one member of the Five Elders, Saint Saturn. This is a massive siege the likes of which surpasses that of Ohara itself. In fact, this might just be the biggest war following the Paramount War that involves the Navy in One Piece and the scale of it is absolutely stellar.

As soon as the siege began, it became quite clear to the fans that the Straw Hat Pirates would have to break through the lines to stand a chance of survival. With the Seraphims, the CP0, the many other Pacifistas, the 30,000 Marines, and, of course, the powerful figures, such as the Vice

Admirals, the Admiral, and Saturn, escape from this island already seemed almost impossible. It appears that Oda has deemed this to not be enough and has chosen to increase the intensity of the arc even further by calling a Buster Call.

Kuma Vs Saturn

In One Piece chapter 1104, fans finally got to see Kuma take action on Egghead Island. He previously arrived on the island and shielded Bonney with his own body. In this chapter, decided to unleash his fury on Saint Saturn by punching him directly in the face, sending him flying across the island and injuring him greatly. Kuma showcased his amazing abilities, however, the damage that he had sustained saw to it that he could no longer continue fighting. Meanwhile, Saturn, despite being damaged greatly, was able to recover from his injuries without much trouble at all. Even though he received more damage after, his incredible recovery rate kept showing up again and again.

The injured people on Egghead Island, such as Kuma, and Bonney, among others, were asked to be retreated to the Labophase. This job belongs to none other than Atlas and it appears that it will be carried out flawlessly in the upcoming chapters. That leaves behind the likes of Sanji, Franky, and Luffy below on the surface to battle against the likes of Saturn and Kizaru. This fight is going to be absolutely amazing, however, it is going to become more intense with the Buster Call that was ordered at the end of the chapter.

Egghead Buster Call

As fans know, the Buster Call is known to be the strongest military offensive that the Navy has. Essentially, to invoke a Buster Call, the Navy uses 10 battleships, which target an island after deciding to obliterate it completely.

Given that there are far more than 10 battleships surrounding Egghead Island right now, the Buster Call that Saturn invoked at the end of the chapter is going to be more intense than any that fans have seen before in the story. What happened to Ohara will be nothing compared to what is coming for Egghead in the upcoming chapters and that has fans on the edge of their seats already.

Previously, Saturn decided that he wanted the power plant on Egghead Island to stay safe to make more Motherflame. Now, it appears that he has changed his mind. He has asked for the utter annihilation of Egghead Island, likely because of the events that have unfolded here. Of course, the goal here is to kill everyone, including Vegapunk, Luffy, and all the other survivors on the island. Saturn himself will most definitely survive the incident, as will Kizaru.

The Buster call was invoked towards the end of One Piece chapter 1104 and has not come into effect just yet. Fans will have to wait to see this military offensive being launched by the Navy in the upcoming chapter. However, there are many things to consider here. For one, what fans know for sure is that a portion of Egghead Island will be destroyed, however, the Straw Hat Pirates, along with their allies, will survive. This will likely be made possible through the Iron Giant, which fans will get to see very soon in the manga. Luffy, who was not seen in this chapter, has likely eaten his fill and regained his stamina.

As soon as he activates Gear 5 and enters battle once again, the Iron Giant will synchronize with the Drums of Liberation and start moving. When that happens, it is going to be up to the Iron Giant to stop the Buster Call, and, at the very least, open up an escape route for the Straw Hat Pirates, among others.

It appears that the Egghead Island Arc is now certainly hitting its climax and fans are incredibly excited to see what Oda has in store for them. The major fights of the arc are now going to happen very soon and that means Luffy will return with Gear 5, and the Iron Giant will awaken soon as well. The Buster Call will have to be fought back against by the Straw Hat Pirates and everyone else on the island, and this phase of the story is going to be extremely intense. Thankfully, there is no break and the excruciatingly long and interruptive phase of several weeks is now over. Fans will most definitely get to see the Buster Call being played out in the upcoming chapters, and that is one of the most exciting things about One Piece at the moment.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. Since One Piece is going to be on break, the release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1104, is set to be January 21, 2024.
