An exceptional man named David Akanmu has emerged as the best graduating student of the University of Lagos, Nigeria after earning an outstanding 5.00/5.00 grade from the institution.
David Akanmu earned a 100% first-class Bachelor’s degree grade studying Civil and Environmental Engineering. He scored the highest grade point in his graduating set earning him the overall best graduating student of the university.
He also the university’s Faculty of Engineering and Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering best graduating student. David took to Linkiedin to celebrate his achivement of graduating with an excellent grade stating that he had straight As all through his stay.
”I graduated as the Overall Best Graduating Student at the University of Lagos’ 54th Convocation Ceremonies with a perfect 5.00/5.00 CGPA (yes, it means I had straight As!),” he said.
David stated that beyond the academic excellence, his time at the university allowed him to grow into a well-rounded individual. He said he co-founded Sustainable Development Advocates (SDA)
He mentioned that he also received the Millennium Ocean’s Prize for a groundbreaking idea to combat open defecation in Nigeria. David said he won $10,000 grant which empowered him to lead a creative campaign on climate resilience in Bariga, Lagos.
He mentioned that he also served as the Welfare Secretary of his department, pioneered the first-ever digital/YouTube tutorials in response to COVID-19’s impact on physical activities.
David stated that he interned at African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA), Morgan Omonitan & Abe Ltd and Advanced Engineering Consultants which further shaped his growth.
He mentioned that the journey was not easy describing it as one marked by blood, sweat, and tears. David expressed his gratitude to his parents, project supervisor, coursemates, friends and everyone who supported him.
David stated that he is eagerly looking forward to the future with optimism and the lessons learned along the way.
