Gal Gadot among Hollywood stars signing open letter that condemns ‘evil’ of Hamas after Israel attack

Hundreds of Hollywood celebrities signed an open letter on Thursday condemning the ‘barbaric acts’ of Hamas fighters who murdered and abducted Israeli civilians in a shocking weekend assault.

Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot, an Israeli, was among film and TV stars on the list, which also included: Jamie Lee CurtisChris PineMayim BialikLiev SchreiberMichael Douglas and Jerry Seinfeld.

‘Hamas murdered and kidnapped innocent men, women, and children. They kidnapped and murdered infants and the elderly,’ said the open letter released by Creative Community For Peace.

‘This is terrorism. This is evil. There is no justification or rationalization for Hamas’ actions,’ the letter went on. ‘These are barbaric acts of terrorism that must be called out by everyone.’

‘They are a terrorist organization whose leaders call for the murder of Jews everywhere. CCFP calls on our friends and colleagues in the entertainment industry to speak out forcefully against Hamas and do whatever is in their power to urge the terrorist organization to return the innocent hostages to their families,’ the letter added.

Open letter: Gal Gadot, shown in June in Brazil, joined Hollywood celebrities in signing an open letter on Thursday condemning the ‘barbaric acts’ of Hamas fighters who murdered and abducted Israeli civilians in a shocking weekend assault

‘As Israel takes the necessary steps to defend its citizens in the coming days and weeks, social media will be overrun by an orchestrated misinformation campaign spearheaded by Iran. We urge everyone to remember the horrific images that came out of Israel and to not amplify or fall for their propaganda.

‘Our thoughts are with all those experiencing unfathomable levels of fear and violence, and we hope for the day when Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side in peace,’ the open letter concluded.

The letter, which was signed by over 700 people from the world of entertainment, came less than a week after Hamas gunmen killed 1,200 people in Israel and took about 150 hostages in a surprise onslaught launched from Gaza.

Israel has retaliated by raining air and artillery strikes on Hamas targets in Gaza for six days, claiming more than 1,400 lives.

The statement is the first large-scale reaction from the industry, but follows a plethora of social media posts from individuals.

Signed it: Chris Pine, shown in March in Texas, also signed the open letter

Letter supporter: Jamie Lee Curtis, shown in April in Los Angeles, also was among the signees

Gadot, 38, on Tuesday urged her followers on social media to donate funds for those affected by the weekend’s attacks and slammed people reacting to the atrocities with ‘justification not empathy’.

The Miss Israel 2004, who shot to fame playing Wonder Woman, said in a press release for the open letter that she hoped the world remains steadfast in its support of the Israeli people.

‘My heart is aching for the lives lost and families shattered. I’m praying for everyone who has been affected by Hamas’ terrorism and brutality,’ she said.

Over the weekend, Gadot was one of the first Hollywood names to support Israel, writing: ‘I stand with Israel you should too. The world cannot sit on the fence when these horrific acts of terror are happening!’

Other notable names that signed the open letter included: comedian Amy Schumer, writer and producer Ryan Murphy and director Antoine Fuqua.
