Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James addressed his eventual retirement during his NBA All-Star media availability, saying he is 50/50 on whether or not he will do a farewell tour during his final season.
During a recent episode of Gil’s Arena, former NBA star and Memphis Grizzlies guard Gilbert Arenas reacted to these comments from James, saying he expects the Lakers star to retire without a farewell tour.
“The way he’s been treated as a superstar, I think he already has his mind made up,” Arenas said. “That when it’s at the end of the season, he’s gonna wait until that dead period in the summer and just say he’s not coming back next year. I don’t see him giving himself a farewell tour knowing that people didn’t respect him when he played the game. For 20 years this is what you really thought of me, this is how you treated me. I’ve been trying to fight for something this whole time, and then this last year you’re gonna try to give me flowers when I’ve been knocking for flowers this whole time? I personally don’t see him [doing that]. But you know me, I’m a f–k you type dude.”
Arenas has a different opinion than most, with the expectation among most fans and media members being that James will have some sort of retirement tour.
