When she stepped out for the Grammys earlier this month, Taylor Swift wore an uncannily Kate-esque ensemble featuring a white Schiaparelli column gown.
Although the thigh-high slit and corset bodice were a little racier than the royal’s McQueen number, it was a clear echo of the princess at last year’s Baftas.
And if Taylor’s Lorraine Schwartz jewels more opulent than Kate Middleton’s Zara earrings, the show-stopping velvet opera gloves united the pair in regal style.
In fact Taylor Swift and Kate’s have been style sisters on a number of occasions.
From a shared love of Jenny Packham embellishment and glittering gowns to pared back separates such as camel coats and chic stripes, there are real similarities in how the women approach dressing for their high-profile yet very different roles.
White Gowns and Gloves

Swift went for a similar combination but added more than 300 carats-worth of layered Lorraine Schwartz diamond necklaces.
Kate stuck with some purse-friendly Zara earrings.
Hands in Hearts
Honouring the start of Black History Month at a school in Wales last year, Kate suggested she’s something of a Swift fan when she flashed Taylor’s signature heart-hands move.

Sheer Embroidery
Kate and Taylor had another twinning moment in elegant blue designs featuring delicate embroidery and sheer sleeves.

In 2014, Swift’s Blank Space music video featured the singer wearing a Jenny Packham gown with rows of crystal clusters and beading.
Later, Kate would echoed the look with a powder blue Elie Saab dress featuring sheer panels across the chest and sleeves at Royal Ascot in 2019.
Breton Stripes
Stepping out in New York in 2015, Taylor Swift went for Parisian chic style in a Breton top with flattering high-waisted shorts.

Later in 2015 Kate dazzled at a James Bond premiere in a Jenny Packham gown with the same sparkly bag complete with crystal clasp.
Glittering in Gold

Taylor stunned at the Grammys with this gold dress and a similar ‘up-do’
Channelling the Tinseltown sirens of old Hollywood in jewelled Jenny Packham, Middleton wore her hair in her signature sleek up-do and kept the accessories minimal with bejewelled Onitaa gold earrings.
The ensemble was reminiscent of Taylor’s 2012 Uhair Murad gown Grammy red carpet Z which was equally as plunging and embellished.
Together with a matching sleek hairstyle and simple earrings she also looked every bit a Hollywood heroine.
Matching in Monochrome
Sleek hair with flashes of shoulder and minimalist monochrome – that seems to have been the style memo for Swift and Middleton.

For Taylor it was a Sachin & Babi jumpsuit when appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in 2015, while Kate chose a Roland Mouret gown for the Top Gun premiere in 2022.
Showing how they can both master monochromatic dressing, a flash of contrasting white on both of their necklines gives just the right amount of detail to otherwise minimalist black looks.
Camel Coats
The camel coat has been the cover-up of choice for the style sisters – a timeless cold-weather essential.

Kate stuck to her signature formula with a Max & Co coat layered over navy separates and a blue bag by Polène Paris in 2023, while Taylor wore Stella McCartney earlier this year and carried a Saint Laurent tote.
Twinning with Trains
Both choosing full length gowns with a twist, the stylish duo stepped out in high-low hem dresses that flashed their legs with the added drama of a full train.

Pink sandals completed the looks for the pair, with Taylor in fuchsia Giuseppe Zanotti and Kate turning to the high street in her rose LK Bennett heels.
Jewelled Jenny Packham

There was a sense of déjà vu as the same frock embellished with crystals in a floral motif had been seen on Swift a few years earlier in a champagne colour.
