The British world of cinema just celebrated its industry standouts in the 77th edition on 19th February. The BAFTA hosted one of the biggest names on the planet at the Royal Festival Hall in London’s Southbank Centre. However, the award night did not host just movie stars, the British Academy Film Awards also hosted some of the biggest names in the fashion industry at the Vogue BAFTA afterparty. By now you should know–where there’s fashion, there’s Lewis Hamilton, and that’s exactly what we witnessed.
The Brit is slowly yet surely becoming a big part of the global fashion industry, with brands like Versace, Tommy Hilfiger, and Valentino, to name a few, celebrating and collaborating with him. The Mercedes man has a strong foothold in the world of fashion now and his date at the Vogue BAFTA afterparty will prove that to you.
However, Hamilton rubbing shoulders with these fashion A-listers shouldn’t come as a surprise. Why? Not only has he been part of various high-profile collaborations, but his fashion inspires people and is appreciated even by his soon-to-be teammate, Charles Leclerc.
His future teammate appreciates Lewis Hamilton’s ability to pull anything off
Like it or not, Hamilton was the trailblazer to add a bit of fashion to the boring team merchandise outfits throughout race weekends. He made Thursdays his day and made paddock walks a thing as others slowly followed. His fashion-forward outfits around the paddock turned heads and even invited mockery at first. However, similar to his outlook on the track, the Brit kept his head down and stayed true to his choices.
His nonchalant attitude and bold looks earned the appreciation of his future Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc. He expressed that when asked if he has even discussed fashion with the Brit. Leclerc replied, “Sometimes we discuss the brands we like. He really has good taste and a lot of courage to show off the strangest looks when he comes to the circuits.”
The Brit arrived at the Vogue BAFTA afterparty with Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. The legendary British-American media executive has spearheaded Vogue magazine to one of the top fashion magazines in the world since 1988 and she arrived at the party with Lewis Hamilton. Wintour and Hamilton surprised the fans as they exited their rental and posed on the red carpet together.
On the red carpet, Hamilton and Anna Wintour were joined by supermodel and actor Cara Delevingne to complete the most surprising trio. An F1 driver with two leading ladies of the fashion world, it’s surprising on paper but Hamilton makes the equation understandable. The Brit was also photographed with another Vogue exec, Chioma Nnadi.
Perhaps Leclerc can learn a thing or two from the Brit when they become teammates. First fashion advice, and then perhaps an invitation to one of the Vogue parties might also follow. Either way, Hamilton has truly made it in the world of fashion and no one can deny that.
