Dragon Ball’s Most Powerful Villain Created a New Universe

Fans of Dragon Ball are familiar with the series’ Multiverse, but one dangerous villain wielded enough power to create a new universe entirely.

It’s well established in Dragon Ball lore now that there are 12 universes which exist, each with its own God of Destruction and Supreme Kai. However, one villain wasn’t satisfied with this order, and actually managed to use a power so great that he was able to create a brand-new universe–or at least, a mostly new one.

In Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Big Bang Mission!!, the mad scientist villain known as Fu has managed to get his hands on an object known as the Universe Seed, which was previously in the possession of another villain, Hearts. The Universe Seed had absorbed an enormous amount of Ki and sprouted, with its roots extending throughout multiple universes, sapping the Ki from all the lifeforms of each universe it infiltrated. Fu explains that the goal of the Universe Tree is to gather enough Ki to start a new Big Bang–and create a new universe.

Shockingly, this insane and dangerous plan mostly succeeds, resulting in the creation of what is known as the “Pseudo Universe.”

Dragon Ball’s New Universe is the Spitting Image of Universe 7

The Universe Tree was nearly destroyed by two Vegito, but they were too late, and it erupted into a new big bang, leaving Goku to wake up in a familiar place: West City. However, there were no lifeforms in this city, at least until he encountered Frieza and his brother, Cooler. After being rescued (by Hearts, surprisingly), they’re able to work out that they’re in the new universe that was created, and that it happens to be an almost exact copy of Universe 7, only devoid of all life (and thus Gods as well).

Creating a universe is almost the definition of a godly feat, so in terms of raw achievements, Fu certainly ranks among the most powerful enemies that Goku has ever fought. Aside from creating the Pseudo Universe, Fu also wielded the power of the fallen dark lord Mechikabura through his Dark Factor, and possessed a sword capable of cutting holes in spacetime, allowing him to teleport around wherever he wished with the greatest of ease. Through the use of a corrupted Divine Bird of Time, Fu even gained the power to freeze time.

The Pseudo Universe didn’t remain devoid of life for long, however, as “pseudo-mortals” began appearing in it, whose lives were intrinsically tied to their counterparts in Universe 7. That meant that death and destruction in the Pseudo Universe would be mirrored in Universe 7, forcing Goku and his allies to be extremely careful about collateral damage. It also couldn’t be allowed to continue existing, however, as it made too easy of a target for beings like Zamasu, who felt it could be a valuable tool towards accomplishing their evil goals.

Ultimately, the Pseudo Universe was destroyed by a wish on the Dark Dragon Balls, in such a way that Universe 7 was left unaffected by its erasure, thus returning the multiverse to the 12 universes that it’s supposed to have. Dragon Ball‘s new universe may have been short-lived, but the fact that a villain was even able to create such a thing is a testament to the sheer power that’s being thrown around in the series at this point.
