The Messi Phenomenon Strikes Copa America: Argentina vs Peru Tickets in Miami Surged to More Than $21k within a Day of Presale Opening.

Tickets to watch Lionel Messi and Argentina compete in this summer’s Copa America were being sold for more than $21,000 just a day after presale started.

While the general sale of tickets for the tournament is not until February 28, presale for the competition began on Thursday on Ticketmaster – and resale prices have already skyrocketed.

On SeatGeek, two tickets to watch Messi and Argentina play Chile in the group stage were listed for an unbelievable $21,503 each on Friday.

The tickets are described on the website as being in the first row of section 142 – which is near the penalty box on one side.

Those tickets soon disappeared from the site, with the next-most expensive seats for that game currently $12,795.

One pair of tickets was listed for more than $21,503 at one point before disappearing

The cheapest tickets for that game on June 25 at MetLife Stadium listed at the time of writing are a still-expensive $480.

Meanwhile, the get-in price for Argentina’s group stage game in Atlanta, which will be played against a yet-to-be-determined CONCACAF qualifier, was $297.

One group of tickets for that was listed for $14,338 each.

And the cheapest tickets for Argentina’s June 29 clash vs. Peru in Miami were listed at $378 on Friday afternoon.

Tickets for Argentina’s group stage game in Atlanta were also going for outrageous prices

A group of tickets in row 9, section 118 were going for as much as $14,665.

Citing SeatGeek data, Bloomberg reported on Thursday that the average ticket for the tournament was $734.

The competition will see the likes of Argentina, Brazil and Chile come Stateside with the USA looking to prove they can hang with their South American foes.

Messi, 36, is still firmly committed to his international career after helping La Albiceleste lift the World Cup in 2022.
