Life is good for race car driver Lewis Hamilton. The British Formula 1 star is largely considered one of the most successful drivers in the sport, and the seven-time champion’s portfolio includes properties spanning some of the world’s most desirable cities, including Geneva, Monaco, London, and New York City. But despite his immense fame and fortune, Hamilton remains grounded and grateful for what he’s been given. “I never could have even dreamed to own a home like the one I do now,” he captioned a photo of himself in one of his homes back in 2020. “And to own a home that I love so much, get to create so many wonderful memories brings me more happiness than I ever thought I could deserve.” Below, take a peek into several of Hamilton’s properties.

One of Hamilton’s most covetable homes is situated in Luins, Nyon, Switzerland, near Geneva. Given that the racer reportedly decided to move there to escape the incessant media attention he was receiving in Britain, it is no surprise that not much is known about the property. The three-bedroom apartment is located in a luxury building reportedly overlooking Lake Geneva, where other F1 legends like Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa, and Michael Schumacher also live. “It was a tough decision,” the star racer told the BBC of moving to Switzerland. “But I’ll meet new people, new faces, and I do have a few friends there and my family and friends from home will be able to come and visit me.” Hamilton likely still owns this pad.

The race car driver next snapped up a property in Monaco for a reported $15 million. Just as with his Geneva property, not much is publicly known about Hamilton’s Monte Carlo home, except that it is likely situated in the elite Fontvieille district. According to reports, the racer’s residence includes a sun terrace, a steam room, and four bathrooms. Many major F1 drivers own properties in Monaco—one of the world’s smallest countries—for its quiet and calm, as well as its tax-free policy. Additionally, it is home to the Monaco Grand Prix, one of the most famous automobile races in the world. The pro athlete most likely also still owns this pad.

Despite his many enviable properties, Hamilton considers his residence in Colorado his home base and where he would want to retire. “I’ve never really been home [before],” he told the BBC in late 2020 of having to stay put due to the coronavirus pandemic. “In my winter, I go to the mountains [in Colorado], which I really see as my main home, because it’s a house and it’s full of love and memories from people, the family that come every winter.” By contrast, he said, he feels that his luxurious pads around the globe “[lack] those memories.” Hamilton has shared many glimpses into and around his house in recent years, including a peek into its wooden interior and photos of him enjoying breakfast on a sunny back deck and paddle boarding across clear water with his two bulldogs.

Hamilton’s foray into NYC properties includes a $43.9 million Tribeca penthouse that he reportedly never actually lived in. According to the listing, the three-story unit was the largest penthouse loft in a celeb-friendly building, measuring a whopping 8,908 square feet with an additional 3,426 square feet of outdoor space—a huge private rooftop terrace with a plunge pool and outdoor kitchen. (Stars like Harry Styles, Rebel Wilson, Justin Timberlake, The Weeknd, and Meg Ryan also have homes in the building.) A floating wooden staircase connects the first and second floors; there are five en suite bedrooms on the second floor and a terrace with a glass-enclosed entertaining room with a wet bar on the third floor. Hamilton initially listed the penthouse for $57 million in 2019 and eventually sold it for $49.5 million in 2021.

Also in 2017, the race car driver snapped up a $23.2 million six-bedroom estate in posh West London that previously belonged to Burberry chief designer Christopher Bailey and his husband, actor Simon Woods. The pad has a spacious kitchen, dining area, and 200-foot green garden with an impressive summer house for guests. The four-story mansion, originally built in 1860 by famous builder Samuel Johns, still retains much of the original structure’s architectural features. It’s not known how much time Hamilton actually spends at the property, but it is believed that he still owns it.

Though the star driver didn’t appear to reside in the Tribeca apartment he bought in 2017, he did still decide to expand his New York City holdings with the purchase of a $40.7 million Tribeca penthouse the same year he listed the other one. This 6,547-square-foot unit is located in a building partially owned by NFL legend Tom Brady and his former wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen. The home overlooks the Hudson River and building amenities include a fitness center, swimming pool, squash court, wine cellar, and library. Other stars who call the building home include Jennifer Lawrence and Mike Meyers. Hamilton most likely still owns this stunning Manhattan pad.
