Sorry, Patrick Mahomes, NFL Network isn’t keeping this one in the vault.
One day after the star Chiefs quarterback pleaded for NFL Network not to use footage of his 40-yard dash from the 2017 scouting combine as part of this year’s coverage, the organization defied Mahomes’ wishes, showcasing his run against two prospects.
In a video shared Thursday on X, the NFL posted a Mahomes overlay with Texas defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat and Florida State defensive lineman Braden Fiske.

“Whoops,” the NFL captioned the video, to which Mahomes responded with a gif of an annoyed child.
Long before the Chiefs selected Mahomes 10th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, the then-Texas Tech product ran a 4.80 in the 40-yard dash.
Fiske, a 297-pound prospect, clocked a 4.78.
As for the 366-pound Sweat, he ran a 5.26.

Despite the rare blemish on Mahomes’ pre-NFL resume, he’s fared just fine since entering the league.
The two-time NFL MVP won his third Super Bowl in five seasons last month, a 25-22 overtime win against the 49ers at Allegiant Stadium.
Mahomes threw for 333 yards, two touchdowns and one interception en route to his third Super Bowl MVP title.

It remains to be seen if Mahomes will pull a Tom Brady down the road, as the seven-time Super Bowl champ recently defeated his 40-yard dash time more than two decades after he took part in the combine.
The NFL scouting combine continues in Indianapolis through the weekend.
